I’m a machinist by trade, and I build Jeeps for fun. Jeeps are really expensive though haha. When I got back into RC a few months ago it was enlightening because I can do all the suspension tuning and all the things I love about building Jeeps without every part weighing 50-500 lbs and all the parts are 10% or less of the cost.

Here’s a few pics of my Jeeps past and present and my current full scale project a 1966 dodge power wagon that my old fire department still uses as a brush truck. After 60 years of service it needed a complete rewire. View attachment 166159View attachment 166160

My daily. A 98 4door XJ I bought from the same fire department when they decommissioned it.

My current wheelin rig. 96 2door XJ locked front and rear and converted to 5speed.

Dude, so sick!!!

Great stuff BarnFab. Interesting your father's Jeep had an AMC 360. How did that work out? Curious how that came about. AMC's always been underrated in the performance arena in my opinion.

Oh, and welcome to RC if I haven't posted that before. Cheers. 'AC'
That 360 was a BEAST. It came out of a an old Matador. It basically bolted in. They had 304’s from the factory which is the same block with smaller holes. It sounded so good. Horrible on gas mileage though 😂 It had a mild cam stock heads and all the bolt on stuff. Also we were always chasing coolant and oil leaks around the manifold bolts. Every one either went into the water jacket or an oil return. None were blind holes.
🤯 I need to come up to your garage @BarnFabRC
It’s my favorite place to be!
Dude, so sick!!!
Thanks! Wish I still had every one of them. Especially the LJ. That thing was incredible.

I wish I could be down in Myrtle Beach right now. But I gotta wait 3 months.
My fav place to be is the track, my workbench, the basement, and the beach, or the mountains.
I guess my actual favorite place to be would be southern Utah or Telluride/Ouray Colorado. I’m living in Philly now so the barn in rural NJ is a real treat on the weekends.

Davidb1126,
Here's some mountains for you, right out my back door.

I haven't been to any mountains east of the Rockies, have heard the Smokies are nice.

The Smokey mountains are cool, but nothing like out west. Colorado has them beat by a long shot. Gorgeous area man. So jealous!

We are very blessed. The trailheads to all of those areas are within 30-40 minutes of my house. Hoping to get my brother and his Redcat out to this area in particular, accessible only by motorcycle or ATV which is as much fun in of itself. This area is closer to an hour away but has some awesome granite formations and crawling ground. I can't seem to find my pics of the granite quarry in this area. You could spend several days there and never crawl the same rocks. One picture with the 2 ladies standing On the rock area is the quarry. I have some other picture somewhere where here I am down below Looking up and it goes down a long ways below me. Would be great for a lower profile rig than what I have but I could still have fun there with my defender.

Little better sir of the two pics, there are areas all over like this, just have to ride a 4 wheeler or 50" side by side to get there.

My latest project of way, way too many. It's currently at my brother's dealership because it needs a bunch of work, but, it already has a full switch set up, cylinders, pumps and dumps. Somehow though, I found out today I lost the keys.

In the past couple of years I've had to find things to keep my hand and mind busy and rc is definitely one the other is woodworking . Well, I try anyhow. As I said in my introduction post I love to make things by hand , and if I don't know how ill google and research how to or pictures of what it should look like and I do my best . That latest project was to build a woodworking based work table where I can store my tools within the table to make more workspace or to add a different tool in its place . Basically though my focus is on building jewelery boxes and keepsake type boxes and I hope that one day one hobby will be able to pay for the other lmao 🤣 😆 I've added some pics of the table at different stages , it's almost done , but is it? Are they ever ? Lol and then a couple pics of a toddlers learning stool for the sister in laws girls to be able to "help " in the kitchen and the last one is a keepsake box I did for the granddaughter and the heart-shaped pic under the lids is her and her mom and dad when she was just a baby . She lost her mom 2 yrs ago to addiction which by the way is why I need to keep myself busy. I struggled with drugs most of my life and at the end of my drug career was 4 yrs of fentynol and it's been a really hard one to kick but after 4 yrs of trying I now have 2yrs solid and plan to keep it going that way .

Woodworking is something I wish I had taken up when I was younger, looks like something I would have enjoyed.
