  1. Bashing
i wanna upgrade my 2.5 rusty to a os .15 cv-r what do i need to do, besides the nitro sport linkage to fix the rotary carb problem. i was looking at the crankshaft on the os and it looks alot different than the one on the 2.5. will it still work or do i need to change it and if so with what? ~matt

is there a better fit for the rusty besides the o.s.? i just want something for bashing that i don't have to tune all the time like the 2.5, and nothing bigger than a .15 cause i think it just be overpowered, shred trannys and spin the tires

I just had a similar delimma and came up with bupkis for my jato. I ended up just getting a new 2.5R for $90 using the traxxas ERP.

There are a few though, but will require you to at least buy a new header to fit them. TRX headers are 2.5/3.3 specific and really won't work on anything else very well... or at all.

Smaller, but a decent make, will require new header:

15, rear exhaust, slide carb, require new header:

18, rear exhaust, ROTARY carb, require new header and clutch nut:

Could also try losi's version of the 3.3 ;)

Those are what I was looking at.

thanks for the suggestions, i like the 2.5 but its a pain to tune and to be honest my tuning skills basically non-existent. would you have any idea where i could find a header that might work or one that i could make work?

I don't know the layout of the rustler.

Do you have a top down chassis layout photo? If so, then I can see what I'm shooting for and probably find something.

On my jato, I'm using an associated header on the 2.5R. I broke a couple stock headers a long time ago just due to impact from jumping. I proffer spring mounted headers vs bolt ons.

i looked on rcplanet.com and found a large assortment of headers and pipes for o.s, and i was looking at the os website, at their parts page and fort the crank shaft is says for os .12/.15, so i'm thinking that means that they might be interchagable and if so i could just get the piolet shaft for a 12 and change them.......

i've been looking at the os 12 you posted the link for, i think i'm gonna go that way. i looked at the SH .15 which looks like it would be the best fit but i can't find any info on them. think the o.s. 12 would be enough power? what about this one? what header do you think would work?http://www.rcplanet.com/Dynamite_Mach_15RE_Engine_p/dyn0882.htm

I'm pretty sure the dynamite and SH engines are pretty much the same. Which means, you could get the SH .15 and have the least amount of hassle.

Either of the headers I posted should work on either the OS 12, Mach 15RE or SH 15.

Regardless what engine you buy, you will need a new flywheel nut as the TRX nut is specific to TRX crankshafts.
