Yesterday I was doing my usual practice in the yard , when making my turn the exhaust got loud. I pull the truck over for a quick look and the header broke right off at the mount piece. Two questions one, I ran the truck for a min just thinking the exhuast came off and wondering if that hurt the motor in anyway? Two, What header should I go with a spring mount or bolt on?

It shouldn't hurt anything, it may run a little funny since your not getting the normal back pressure, but I don't think it would cause it to run lean and if you only did it for a little while, you should be good.

I'd look at a spring mounted one, that way you have some flex in the header.

Cool thanks for the quick post! Any suggestions on the brand of header?

Id go with the traxxas part you know it will "fit" and it was made for your application

and for the spring

after installing you may need to reposition the muffler IOT get the header to line up with it. It's easy, you can adjust the angle by loosening the screw that holds the exaust bracket to the chasis, and the hight with a hex key where the bracket attaches on the muffler itself

+1 to that.

I have to give Mr. Clean a B- on this one I do agree with his choice on the spring mounted. But however he did suggest that he didn't believe it would cause it to run lean. Broken pipe means no pressure to Fuel tank which can result in lean condition. Other then that he is dead on and I am just being a PITA.:p:

:hehe: I thought about that and wondered if it would run lean or just stall out. I guess it depends on if there is any kind of pressure getting to the tank or none at all. Thanks Grudge.
