Ad this fly-boy to your list WoodiE. Air Force 1981 to 84. TDY all over most of the time, last permanent base and job was Vance, where they filmed twister and I was in Base Opeations right across from the weather guys, <grin>, it's the best place to be if you want to chase the funnels.
Welcome fellow wingnut! Vandenburg AFB.

I am USAF, Retired, served from '76-'94, retired 1.5 years early due to Clinton's plan to down-size the military.

I was a Computer Systems Technician, spent most of my career in the Intelligence community with a brief stint in a SAC Bomb Wing and another working the old AWACS aircraft. Final duty station was Colo Springs, working in the National Testbed Facility. My boss there was a former SR-71 driver... who'd got too old (mid-30s) to pass the flight physical.

Lots of temporary duty trips and three unaccompanied tours to the Republic of Korea, keeping an eye on the Kims of the north, via the Dragon Lady (U2) platform.
I want to give a big heartfelt thanks to one and all for your service...I work at WPAFB supporting both our Military personnel and civilian engineers. I'm not prior military myself but I have the utmost respect for all of our active military and our Vets. My dad was a Vietnam vet and one of my oldest friends is an 19 year veteran of the police force. Nuthin' but love for yall!
Were you there when Xenia had the tangle with the tornado?

I worked with a guy who had spent some time at Wright Pat, and near the end of my career had a boss who had been a project manager there.

Chun Il, sure.

My last assignment there I lived in the Osan hotel which was right outside the main gate of Osan AB.... but that was so long ago, and it's long gone with all the changes made in Song-Tan

Did they have a Wendy's off base, when you were there? I was shocked when we took off our wet socks, and found that the floors were heated. 😎

Nope, they did have a KFC, complete with a fiber-glass statue of the Colonel, who was often moved to other locales by the inebriated.

The only burger place was a cart with McDonalds logos.

Popeyes was on base, but Cherry Boy chicken (bar-b-que), downtown near Skinny Mom's club was better.

Another degenerate Veteran checking in. Army 07-14 91B/63B. Spent most of my time at the "Great Place" AKA Ft. Hood with a year long paid vacation to the sandbox.

I was in that branch with the good chow, and 5-star barracks, so.... what's a 91B/63B?

Drove past Ft Hood earlier this year (on our way to Fredericksburg) but I think they've renamed it to Ft Cavazos?

I had an experience with the good chow for a couple of days at JBB (Anaconda). Couldn't believe yall had Crab and Lobster in Iraq. Definitely made me reconsider my enlistment in the Army.

Yes they changed the name of Ft. Hood, but I'll never call it anything else. 91b/63b is a wheeled vehicle mechanic.

I served in the USAF from '89 ~'93 as a Munitions Systems Specialist ...."AMMO"! I.Y.A.A.Y.A.S.

I wanted to travel. Eighteen years old, and first stop was Osan AFB Korea. I didn't know what I got myself into. Stepping off the jet, and the base was in the middle of an exercise... playing war games in "chem" suites, and gas masks o_O🤪.

Second base was Seymour Johnson AFB, NC which led me to serving in the Gulf War.
