Certainly a good point. I still stand by my opinion 100% regardless. Putting aside if this is legal or not without any user notification, the fact is there is more then plenty of ways of securing a computer from virus, spyware, trojans and preventing someone from going to "a bad website".

In fact there have been many suggestions posted in this thread alone by myself and others, and are even much more out there should a computer admin really want to know without stooping to privacy invasion levels.

I'll leave this topic alone with just this tidbit of info.. I alone am responsible for well over 400 desktops for the company I work for. We do NOT have outstanding issues with virus, spyware, or trojans nor do I worry that porn or other "bad sites" are being visited. All of this is done without using a keylogger. It can be done and done very easily.

I see your side as well however you mentioned that you manage work machines. I believe people are far less likely to browse sites that compromise their jobs. A public machine gives the illusion of anonymity. My company is 50k+ employees and network logs are kept on every single machine. We don't log strokes but every site visited is tracked. I guess I have zero tolerance for people that look at porn and would do what I could to ensure they knew they would be caught. Not sure who the residents consist of but imagine if I kid would have opened the recycling bin.

Maybe post the notice but don't actually use a keylogger. :D. Strong firewalls and sign in logs should keep you safe.

Today I saw several facebook hits listed. I have zero interest in looking there. I absolutely do NOT intend to invade anyone's private emails or social sites. This is not a business. They can go where they want on their own time, but anyone who uses the computers for porn will be banned from them. That's all I looked for, and the thought of going to a facebook account or email is something I would NEVER even consider, so please don't even suggest that I would be such a low life. What a waste of my time to spy on people. I'm not the local gossip here.
I've also let several people know that I've installed it and the word will get around. Again, it's the fear factor that works.
