Sweet Antenna Idea!

Soo, I spliced the receiver's wire and I soldered some speaker wire to it. I now just wrap it through the rear shock tower and call it a day. I tested this antenna vs. the old one, I noticed I can get about 25 more feet of range as well. This makes it easier on me, when it comes to bashing.:

Just a word of caution from an amateur radio operator: Antenna length has more to do with frequency than distance. The length of the wire (antenna) is directly correlated to the frequency that it is tuned to. Be VERY careful that you don't actually move the physical wavelength beyond your systems frequency range.

That you saw an increase in range is most likely due to the fact that your antenna wire was too short to begin with...

RC Addict is right. Unless you're running 2.4Ghz, with AM & FM radios the receiver length is very important. Check out http://www.tamiyaclub.com/tools.asp for length calculations.
