Hey guys, been awhile since i last was on here and also been awhile since i've had time to even get back into this amazing hobby. But now that I'm finished up with school I'm going to have some more free time.

I've decided to take on a full build from ground up. All bran new parts and plan on building a bran new nitro revo but with a truggy style. I've been wanting a truggy for a long time and the prices for a good high quality truggy is hard for me to afford. Since I'm on a tight budget i couldn't afford an RTR or a truggy kit, so i decided to order a bare revo 3.3 chassis for 1 dollar on ebay.

Also just last night ordered most of the plastic bits but for the slayer 3.3 pro because i like the battery box for the receiver and battery. And it just seems more compact than the revo's setup. And i've ordered the complete bulkhead pieces for front and rear (with out the diffs ) so those should be arriving hopfully later this week or next week.

The truck in general is going to have mixed parts from slayer pro 3.3 and revo. The transmission will be a forward only slayer 2 speed, the arms will be revo 3.3. So its gonna be alittle different but the main goal is to make a revo that looks as close to a true truggy as possible.

The build probably will take some time so its not like its gonna be a 2 week project. Its going to gain progress according to what i have extra in the wallet. Luckly everything is very affordable as far as purchasing part by part. I'm hoping to very soon have a complete roller for under 200 dollars. After that its just a matter of the radio and engine.

Ultimately i want the revo to look close to the HB D8T

Thanks !! Can't wait to start the build.. Hopefully by tomorrow ill be ordering the diffs and arms.

I always like a revo build ,good move on the slayer tranny ,just be aware it has a different final ratio compared to the revo but that can be sorted with a spur and cb change.

Good lookout !! ill have to consider that when i choose the spur gear.

Sounds good man, lets get started. :thumbs-up:

Thanks !!! ill try to keep you guys as updated as possible with pics and whats going on.

So last night a sold a couple things on ebay and was able to order the following parts.

Slayer transmission
drive shafts
revo 3.3 arms with carriers
steering assembly
steering arm and stop pieces
a full revo screw kit ( stock )
Shock mounts
and turnbuckles and shock turnbuckles.

All Bran new

Now whats left is

Engine( thinking possibly .28 )
Diffs
center drive shafts
a servo ( already have one so i just need one for either steering or throttle )
shocks/springs
wheels
radio/receiver
wing kit
and sway bar kit

Small update today, got a mini parts lot in today.

layed a couple pieces out on the chassis to see how it would look and i love it ! its amazing building a bran new revo and basically saving over 200 dollars.

can't screw anything on yet because I'm waiting for the screw kit to come in. But when all the parts come in ill be able to enjoy actually making the roller.

I have to wait for my diffs and center drive shafts to fully assemble everything but for now I'm going to wait until they come in before i assemble the roller. Can't wait !

gotta love dollarhobbies ,I usually bounce between them and jennys rc . have you ordered a slipper set? if you are running a .28 it should have enough power to pull the taller gars for the slayer just experiment with what works for you and you should be golden

Haven't ordered one yet, mainly focusing right now on just getting the drive train and arms and everything hooked up so its technically a complete rc. then if i do 100% know I'm going to do a .28 ill probably look at the different spurs available for the slayer. i was thinking about the OFNA JL .28 engine, seems affordable at about 120 bucks. Actually cheaper than the TRX 3.3. But it sort of evens out with the revo .28 engine mount kit.

Either way i can't wait to finish up assembling all this. gonna be exciting having it all together !

which ofna .28 are you talking about? if its the jl max .28 you don't need a bb mount as its a midblock you can get the ofna mount for 20 bucks. if its a true bb then I would budget for e revo diffs at least

I sort of already ordered the revo 3.3 diffs. But if i ever have problems ill either buy an upgraded version of the revo diff or just a stock e revo.

Also the engine is this one

So some more updates today. Assembled as much as i possibly can when the diffs came in this morning. and this is what happened.

small update.

Got my wheels, shocks, hubs, and BB kit. However I'm mainly using the HPI 4.6 for test fitting everything and the traxxas big block kit does not seem to work well. so i decided to modify some things. and now the engine is sitting crazy but my main focus now is how I'm going to close this gap.

1025142017a_zps8e65b1dd.jpg

Thats about as close as i can move the engine to the transmission.

The spur on it right now is a 36 t but i ordered a 40 t. And the clutch bell is a 17t now I'm thinking a 20 t might be the next purchase.

Looking good man! Where did you get that nice looking aluminum chassis? I thought the stock revo chassis was grey plastic?
Oh, and yeah I've used and abused Jenny's RC so much that I should have a stock option available to me lol.

Just to chime in my REVO 2.5 chassis was just like this one but shorter.

I got this on ebay. but i searched up Slayer 3.3 pro chassis. And it was 1 dollar ! haha but 5 dollar shipping .

Does it have a way to get the spur closer to the clutch bell or is it just a similar build but with s 2.5 chassis ? I mainly just need to find out how on earth I'm going to get that spur to meet up to the CB.

I know this is gonna look crazy. But i spent awhile re enforcing this mount. But yeah this way it can clear a pullstart and it works. But if there is no way to close the gap of the spur and CB ill have to probably do some more modification.
