So after bashing on just 2 sets of dual 3S's i was made aware of HOW HOT these motors can be. Long story short i tried a few things and they all kinda worked but felt they were lacking. I'm sure this is OVERKILL but i could NOT find anything that came close to cooling the entire motor with out some crazy complicated setup that IMO did not offer much better than just a cheap clip on fan. SO after about a days work, i came up with this.
I ran HARD on 3 sets of dual 3s today and i will say this is doing what it needs to do, cool the entire motor.
I have some GPM parts coming in and that should help cooling but i could NOT find much if any ideas or parts to do what i wanted. SO enjoy some pointless overkill spending $ and time for the sake of the hobby.
THIS thing cools VERY fast too withing about a 5 minutes its cool to the touch after running full out for an hour

I used Some 30 and 35mm rocket aluminum fans and a 40mmx40mmx10mm heat sink from amazon
2 Surpass hobby clip on coolers one of them i cut in half

I used 12g copper wire and the twisting pulled it SUPPER tight against the motor and holds the lower from moving. It BARLEY clears the controller box.

Okay... That's neat.

Just zip tying a single fan to the motor would work too.

that was actually the 1st thing i did... didn't do jack squat... i think that's because these motors are smooth vs the ribber for his pleasure traxxas motors.
I then tried the dual fan clip on and that works VERY well, but the unevenness of the temperature on the motor had me concerned. I know these things are built to take it... but when i get a scratch... i have to itch it. the fact that these have pressure against them and the motor and a thermal pad.... its nice to pull the top off after a full run on 50C 3s batteries and NOT get burnt trying to do a quick repair, no matter what you touch now its not even hot enough to hurt... WARM for sure but hot... NOPE, not even the bottom. I ran for almost 2 hours today NON stop and i was amazed at how well it did. the rocket fan on the ESC is a huge help too.
If you can hold it in your hand and squeeze and NOT have to let go of that spicy potato... thats about as hot as she gets now.

I love the overkill and I love the effort! 💯

That being said, it seems like it would have been much easier to just gear it down some but thats just me.

Na..... I love the explosive power and speed.
My highlights are going 55mph into a curb. Or sending it cartwheeling down the hill for 500 feet!
