  1. Snook Man

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

I’ve only ever uploaded 2 video2 of it, 1 was just testing it with the wheels off the ground and the other was its maiden voyage with throttle restricted to about 50% to find the gremlins. (Note to self) Looking back at the video it was stupid of me to be using an old am tx/rx but I got...
  2. Snook Man

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

I dont have any plans on running it until April or May and I may need to borrow some of Rolex's medication before I go WOTo_Oo_O This tranny does have all steel gears but I have several more set up that use a combination of steel and plastic gears. I haven’t had any issues shredding gears with...

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

Thanks for the Wow’s… And Rolex, I’m out of wax :0 Greywolf, My wife calls it my Art work and wonders how I manage to keep it so shiny when my hands are so dirty:lol: A couple of Savox 1256 servos installed for steering and throttle/brake duties. Throttle linkage: It was problematic from the...
  4. Snook Man

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

Or a long straight smooth road!:thumbs-up: Rear shocks: I don’t remember what cheapo brand these are but they are aluminum threaded shocks I got for a TMaxx many years ago. They were leakers from the get go and I tossed them in a box and forgot about them until this build. I de-anoed them and...
  5. Snook Man

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

I know, right... Somehow all my builds have that look :) Got a little more assembled today. Steering bell crank: It’s a combination of a 4Tec and RS4 parts. I set it up for good throw and clearances and cut upper and lower bushings to size to set the height. Front suspension: 4Tec parts for...

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

Yep, it made me go Hummmm, quite a few times. Gear mesh was the most difficult after determining what gears to use to fit into the space I had to work with. It took several templates and a few attempts to get it right. The spur gear is 22 T and the clutch bells are 18T. I most often change the...
  7. Snook Man

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

Thanks for the compliments guy’s. It’s actually difficult to take decent pics without getting major glare. Got a little more polished and assembled today. Rear shock tower: Just a simple tower designed to fit a buggy wing mount directly to it. I reduced the diameter of the shock cap mounting...
  8. Snook Man

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

I finally got some time to put towards this rebuild. I’ll start with the main chassis plate, it’s made from 1/8th inch T6 7075 aluminum (all the custom parts I made are 7075). I made a few subtle mods from the original layout for a better fit and clearances of a few things but it’s pretty much...
  9. Snook Man

    front engine rear drive?

Need lots more info before any suggestions. Was the rig/chassis set up as a rear engine with standard center diff or gear box in the center? What chassis? What rear diff? Can the rear diff be flipped upside down to change the rotational output? Single speed or multiple speed gear box? And that’s...
  10. Snook Man

    Novarossi supercharged...

That engine is designed for the Revo and Maxx which don’t use an extended 2 speed bell and the e-clip works for them. Due to the design of the 4Tec 2 speed clutch bell you will most likely need a threaded crankshaft so you can use the 3mm screw that recesses inside the 4Tec bell. (You probably...

    New Engine!

You can make just about any starter box fit any rc with a little shimming and or reconfiguration of the starter box (and the correct flywheel). You will also want to consider your header options to fit the engine you pick as the trx header only fits a few correctly.

Keeping the tires on the rim.

I was skeptical about this glue until I tested it against others. It’s the best glue I know of for high speed. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDAYK&P=7 If he blew pre mount XO-1 tires off the rim due to a glue failure, that’s a rarity. A few of my buddies run 8S @ over 100mph...

    Keurig Addict

Someone mentioned Coffee??? I seldom leave home without it… I normally will drink 75 oz every work day before noon, then make a fresh pot when I get home from work. Heres one of my little cups I also have a Bunn drip maker in my hobby workshop. I can drink coffee @ 10pm and sleep like a baby so...
  14. Snook Man

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

A little weight moved forward and new splitter design. I managed to relocate the RX battery and the RX; I just swapped positions and made a few parts for mounting them I also have a tray to add weight under the new battery location if needed. My old splitter wasn’t so much a splitter as it was...
  15. Snook Man

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

I have a few carnage pics but they are on a PC that decided it was tired, so I retired it… It wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I don’t even know what exactly happened. I was just doing a test run to try out new gearing in the transmission and didn’t even intend to get up to top speed. At...
  16. Snook Man

    Twin engine (post crash) rebuild.

After a nasty blowover and crash during a test run in March I boxed the twin engine up and forgot about it for a while. I decided it was time to rebuild it with some modifications and a show body. I will be doing a full rebuild and polish in the coming months but here it is with a prototype...

$25 Gift Card - Monthly Drawings

WooooooHoooooo… Thanks WoodiE! & RCNT! :thumbs-up: I can put it to good use after a blowover and not so perfect landing with my twin engine build.

pins on flywheel came off any way to fix?

I’ve repaired quite a few flywheels in the past. If (<Big If) the pins fit snuggly in the flywheel and the holes are not wallered out you can secure them in place with green locktite. Clean the pins and flywheel with denatured alcohol or equivalent / fill the hole(s) with the locktite and press...

clutch bell differences from 22 to 17 tooth

The spur and bell in the above links, do not fit together (different pitches).
  20. Snook Man

clutch bell differences from 22 to 17 tooth

1st, you will never get a hardened clutch bell machined unless at a machine shop for more $ than a new bell would cost. 2nd, the Revo and Tmaxx use a different pitch clutch bell and spur, Tmaxx uses 32 pitch aka mod .8 The Revo uses a mod 1 pitch bell and spur and neither pitch can be used with...
