Have a stripped hex and wondering the best way to get it out. Trying to avoid drilling it out.

depending where it is. I have drilled just the head of the screw off and laft the threads then took the threaded part out with pliers/vise grips
 
I seem to remember some seen on tv wonderbit but looks like I will be drilling it.

Drill a slit into the head and remove it with a standard screw driver

I've also heard of epoxying an old "throw away" hex wrench into the stripped screw. Allow epoxy to set and then attempt removal.
 
I went ahead and drilled it out. I tried the rubber band trick but that was fail sauce.
