So now I can't sit and linger on the board from my office. Because today's my last day. 10 days off then I move to Syracuse to start a new job. Hopefully I'll have LAN access and I'll be right back here during office hours. It is, after all, a state job so I should have plenty of time to sit back and chill here. I'll be on at home for a little bit, but will be moving my computer soon. So there will be a little while where I won't be around. But hopfully that will only be for a week or so.

WOOOOHOOOO!!! I'm outta here!!!!

Good luck with the move man (seems to be a ton of us that just moved, are moving, or are planning to move). I just moved myself this month (around the corner) and all I can say is I am glad as hell I am done!

Hey Candyman, good luck with the move.. Hope to hang with ya again next year.. With all the crap my wife & I have accumulated over the years, I couldn't even fathom the idea of trying to move... lol

Congrats and good luck. I too have moved Aug 1st and were STILL not unpacked....

Couple people I know have state jobs. You should have plenty of time to surf.

Youll be that much closer to Buffalo now! Wooohooo!

I say we have a party at the new Candman Pad!

Ill bring the cronies.....

OK, Chris, that sounds like a good idea! I'll have to kick my mom out for the weekend. Yeah, shacking up with her for a few months until I can save up to buy my own place. No sense wasting tons of $$ on rent, right? When I get settled, you'll have to road trip. We'll shoot down to Rome to check out Team CRC's place. I hear they have 3 nice indoor tracks and a nice 1/8 scale outdoor track at least...

Good luck Candyman. I wish you the best.

Thanks Ratzo. Big step forward for me. Nicer job. Moving back to my hometown. I'm really looking forward to it. I've lived in the Middle of Nowhere (Cooperstown) for the last 7 years. I'm stoked to be getting back to the city life. And this new job is great. It's at a huge NY state teaching hospital. SUNY Health Science Center (University Hospital; Upstate Medical Center). So I get all sorts of perks. State pension fund. State employee health insurance. Tons of state holidays. Lighter schedule. And the work is more challenging than my most recent job. It's a good move. I just hate transitions....

when you work for the state you'll be retiring before you know it....good luck with the new job and the new location...dont forget to get some extra tape and plenty of boxes....

Great to see it all worked out for you.
Moving in with mom has its advantages. Moving out from moms has it advantages as well. Be safe during your move and take a day or two off for some fun before going back to work. If you don't, Ill have to get up out this bitch and show you what for you ingnerent........ He-He- Ill never for get that for as long as I live.

Be Well.
Ed

I don't know how many times that's come out of my mouth in the last few weeks..

Meathead, what do you do for a living. Or what did you do? What kind of career are you looking for? And where in NY are you scoping out?

Yes I have been to CA many times. It's not for me other than Yosemite. And I don't want to do park work again. I am in the outdoor industry so I am going to try and guide or run a ski/outdoor shop. I am going to look at Lake Placid or the southern part of the Adirondacks. I have to see not sure yet.

You might want to check out the Scotch Valley ski area. Some beautiful country up there. Excellent skiing in the winter, normal, beautiful country in the off season.

You should consider Cali, wonderful weather, you know, mild 100 degree heat in the summer, tulle fog in the winter (you can see about 5' in front of you), beautiful miles and miles of farmland with lots of cows.... j/k.
The fishing is great, miles and miles of waterways in the delta, lakes in every direction, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Kirkwood (deepest pack in the Sierras), Northstar and Heavenly Valley ski resorts all with in a couple of hours from home. Indian casinos and last but not least......lots and lots of state jobs in this area.
Be safe in your move.

Well, being in that kind of industry must be tough. Here in NY, I'd recommend the Adirondacks or Catskills obviously. Lake Placid is probably one of the bigger ski centers. But the Catskills have a few places near each other which may give you somewhere to plant your feet. Hunter Mountain. Windham. Plattekill. All are fairly close to each other.
