yeah i am in agreement and quite certain its the Savage 25 or at least one of the older ones. but that engine is the K4.6. can tell by the cutouts in the cooling head and the casting on the nose of the crankcase. (has the blockier diagonal castings and the single lengthwise groove.)The Savage 25 came with an engine that had a purple head on it too from what I'm seeing online. Its definitely a 25 chassis tho regardless of which engine it has in it. At least afaik the 25 was the only model that came with the metal bar/handle across the top. All the other Savages I'm familair with that piece was plastic.
I think the K4.6 was the purple one and the F4.6 was the grey/black one. Good call on the 25 not having the cuts in it. I didnt even see that.No I have a 4.6. It looks like this K4.6
25 doesn't have the cuts in the cooling fins
It's an HPI F4.6

HPI made 2 4.6 engines. He has the F4.6 and I have the K4.6
Thats weird cuz I remember my X SS coming with the K4.6 and it had a purple head on it. In fact if you google HPI K4.6 under images all the images are with the purple head and if you google F4.6 all the results are grey head. Its weird that that shows a purple F4.6
there was a version of the F4.6 that also had the purple head but i believe were only in the earilier X4.6s, then they went to the F4.6 (grey head) and F4.6 V2I think the K4.6 was the purple one and the F4.6 was the grey/black one. In any case the 25 chassis doesn't have the x on the sideplates. All the 4.6 ones do.
My savage has a grey engine and single shocks.
Perhaps he has this
HPI Savage SS
The wheels match. If I remember right this came as a kit. It has the 4.6 engine and 25 sideplates on the chassis.

One of them was supposed to be better than the other one but I can't remember which was was which.'LOL On HPI they are both called F4.6
Found this. Pics on the internet label both engines both ways.
The easiest way to tell is that the cooling heads have different designs in them. The F4.6 has a completely round cooling head. the K4.6 have machine cuts in the cooling head.
The F4.6 is the ofna force .28 motor.
The K4.6 is the axil .28
You know when I first saw the kit I thought to myself it looked like my old X SS kit but I could have sworn my kit didnt have the metal handle/bar in the middle of the chassis but now I'm starting to wonder. In any case the 25 chassis doesn't have the x on the sideplates. All the 4.6 ones do.
