It's the destiny of every big Hobbywing ESC to catch on fire while sitting in your truck. Maybe not today or tomorrow but eventually. I've killed a few Castles and I have never had one catch on fire. That's where I sit on the subject.

With that said, I have 2 Max6s in service now and I'm pretty happy with them. I used to have 3 but 1 of them caught on fire while sitting in my truck.

I've owned the hobbywing max10, max 8, and max 6. I've owned castle sidewinder, mamba, mamba x, and the XLX2. I've never had a single issue with any of them. I currently have the XLX2 in my Baja 5b and it freakin flies! I like the programmability of the castle, but I do much prefer the on/off button on the hobbywing. Castle really needs to redesign their on/off switch.

if speed running get the xlx2, if just parking lot bashing you can't go wrong with either one tbh.
