Just got my hands on one and cannot wait to chuck the heavy EZ Start as far as I can throw it. Has anyone installed the pullstarter on the 2.5 yet? How much weight does it take off? If no one knows I have a scale at home and will weigh it when I get back. I'm down in good ol Santa Rosa until tomorrow night so wont be able to post the weight until Weds. Hey fast Eddy do you go to Jakes Performance Hobbies down here?

In the end I left mine in and got a second battery so I wouldnt be caught outside with a dead battery ever again. let us know what happens for you.

I hate my EZ start! All my other cars are pullstart except my T-maxx. Starter Box is the best and I just bought one to start my new Sirio buggy engine. If you like the EZ-Start over pullstarts then you just own Traxxas's:stick: :trout:

A starter box isn't good for me for many reasons. I am still curious about a pull for the 2.5. I have the new 2.5 truck and starter (with the plug and motor leds). It is an improvement on the old generation ez start for sure, and with a fresh battery the thing rocks! If however you go bash for an entire day, and restarting becomes an issue, it really kills the buzz to be stuck with a dead battery and no way to start. Thats when a second battery comes in handy, thats also when things get heavy, both in the truck and in your pocket.

This is my first nitro so I don't know about other starters. I look at it this way, you have to bring fuel, parts and tools are a pretty good idea too, and at that point, how big of a deal is it to carry a starter too?

Sorry to jump on you so hard. I am kinda anal  . Anyways the Ez Start is very convienient but, When I started to race my T at club races I started trying to take off weight everywhere on my T-maxx. So the Ez Start was a prime target. The main problem I had with my Ez was the blue wire never seemed to give the glow plug enough juice. I would spin the motor for days and no start. When I used my glow starter combined with my Ez it started in less then 2 seconds everytime. So it left me figuring why bother with all the extra weight if I got to use my glow starter anyways.......................

BTW get used to all that and them some, and if you wanna race wheewee you got something comin. Plus you gotta pack a lunch too.

ya I don't think I want a pull start on a 2.5, on other engines that work great but the 2.5 is such a contrary motor I think I would rathe use the easy start system

I use my 2.5 until the battery dies then I just get my 8 port savage out :banana :hehe:

I do like the easy start tho.

Well I installed the pullstarter last night! The main problem was when I pulled the one-way bearing off the back 2 spindels fell out and there were hell to get back into place. Other than that the installation was a breeze. For anyone that cares the pullstarter weights 111 grams lighter than the Ez-start that's a quarter pound!
I could not believe the compression on my 2.5. I have 2 gallons through it and it is harder to pull it to turn it over than my stock GS .21 buggy engine with less fuel through it. Since I have always had the Ez-Start and never did a compression test I never knew how much this little small block had it surprised me!

BTW takes an average of 2-3 pulls to get that puppy started VERY EASY!

I did not find it on the web. I went to Jakes Performance Hobbies in Rhonert Park and bought it. Arent you close to their shop?

only $19.99. I LOVE that hobby shop. Not only have they always have the part I'm looking for in stock its always cheaper than anywhere else. They also ship for free to me when I order over $100:ahh:

Next time you call ask Erin about the time I dropped trow in the store.:D

He has it on the surveillance camera and sells copies upon request.8-0

"dropped trow"?

on another note I would love to get the pull start but my dad won't let me ( no I'm not like Mike C, I am allowed to get aftermarket parts)

I will have to ask him about it when I am in next time. Not trying to see the video though. What do you think your a pornstar?:naughty:

i have had nothing but problems with ez starter. tried the 2 battery method, got it workin ok, but the the motor for the ez start goes bad and doesn't crank motor , just switched to pull start on my 2.5, and i love it , no more battery or electric motor worries.
