I'm getting ready to order paint. I'm gonna go with the spazz stick aerosol, I'm not rady to get into airbrushing (as cool as it looks) so rattle cans it is.
after watching hours of videos I've narrowed it down toa few colors. @doom made the suggestion of rootbeer brown which i think looks fantastic.
but I'm also leaning towards the murder cherry look. i want a darker color, so I'm looking at a black backing right?

i want one of these 3, which do you guys think would be the most reliably achieved?
id appreciate any input from anyone who has painted like these tips or tricks?
i BELIEVE i'll need to
apply candy coat a few times and i want to add metallic flakes possibly between each coating to make it rich looking like an old motorcycle helmet.
then after 5-6 coats ill apply the black backing to it? that simple? is it really that simple tho?

That Black Cherry is awesome! 😍 In fact that's a cool name for your truck. :thumbs-up:
I'm really thinking thats my favorite i keep going back to it as my comparison, does it look as good as the black cherry tho? making me thin i need to jkust do it. gotta order the paints this week

got the club 5 rock sliders in yesterday the trailing arm mount wouldnt fit back on
is this an important part? as it is i just have it setting in the box of parts ready to put back on if its a required piece.
https://img2.associatedelectrics.co...cto_Trail_Truck_black/Enduro-Ecto-Manual-.pdf
gate 10 is the piece I'm talking about
it is first installed in gate 1 however, ill go take some pics to show how it looks, i just thew a nylon nut on as it seemed the screws holding it on were seated into the arm i left off

this is where the mount originally sat
it seemed to rest on the other side of the arm itself holding it in place using the longer screw to hol it. this works the same doesn't it?

bro I thought it was a snake when i posted it lol its a velcro strap for the battery tho lolool

Can you swap the two circled bolts? the one on the left looks long enough.
the bolts were fine, the issue is the stock sliders have a "shroud" at the end that goes over the screwhead. the club doesn't, i think I'm going to cut the piece off the stock sliders and put it on with the club slider so it has the shroud on it just to be safe. i notice the screw at the other end of both sway bars is completelky exposed. making them a matching set as it, naked. i am worried about stuff catching it the pivot point of the arm so am gonna try to rig it, I'm just always nervous to cut anything. once i do its ruint lol

i did swap the bolts by the way, i misunderstood you when i read that originally, yeah once i figured out that the piece i cut was going on the outside of the link and not the inside, i switched them out for some longer screws and put the brackets back on.

just left off the shroud as it seemed more cosmetic than anything else? ( fingers crossed,) i did cut the shroud off but will need to add a few washers and longer screws wnd the i can have the shroud if i still NEED iti

The rock pirate sliders have that tab, I have them on my son's ecto and they have been great. If you search around, someone may make that tab alone.

right? This is part of why I'm asking if its an important piece lol, i noticed the RP haver that additional piece that just makes the shroud. has me wondering if i need it, would RP waste the resources to machine that litle piece purely for cosmetic reasons? so i was wondering if it was required for optimal performance or something.

Test without it, I bet it's unlikely required. My builds mount links on the inside of the frame without supports

Those DL shocks may be a bit long for the ecto. I am running 100mm on mine and it seems to be perfect (I'm running the same shock towers too)

Another great mod for the truck is the servo on axle, get the weight down low and off the frame

i was a little nervopus about that to be honest i just guessed on shock length figured longer was better. classic me. looks like i may have a return sooner than i thought

Painted the cab today
It’s bigger than I need tbh
Messed up on the color
Looks like I’ll need another
Darn…..
was supposed to be candy purple but a really dark one
I partially succeeded
I rushed it
Next time I plan on having multiple layers of candy paint with metal flakes sprayed between them to give it more depth
And a gold backer instead of the black backer I used
On the plus side
I really do like how it looks
Camera doesn’t show the deep purple of it
It’s black until you concentrate on it at the right angle
Shocks are black
Bed is black
Cab is black (self identifies or some such)
Murder truck
Gonna work on maybe getting some rims if I see some that strike me
