Club Race Report 7/27/23

4wd 13.5 (B74.1D)

Mini B Open

RC Underground Arena Columbia MD
B74.1D

We had used the Hobbywing Tunalyzer to dial in the motor. Kit was 42 degrees. I had turned it up to 50 which was a bit too much. We found 45 (44.9) was the best. We also geared up to a 21T pinion. Previously had a 20. With all of this, the car was smoother and had a bit more punch. Later in the night, I turned the brake force in the ESC down to 62%. (Was at 82.5%) I had also set some negative throttle expo / brake curve in the radio.

With tires, I was running Pin Swag F+R. I also experimented with Harpoon rears and Pin Swag fronts. I will also try out Fuzz Bites F+R and Harpoon CR3 F+R. Before all of this, I was running Swagger fronts (which had worn down over time) and Cactus rears. For tonight, diff oils at 15k/500k/15k. Shock oils at 50wt/35wt. (Red springs out-front) After Beach RC. Will be changing diff oils to 15k (might change to 10k) /1m/30k.

Before getting to the track, I installed new rear shocks. Using the oil that it came with in the factory. (Replacement Losi Aluminum) and I refilled the fronts with 40wt. Last time, I lost 3 spring cups and a pillow ball for the shock eyelet. To fix the shock spring issue, some people are using zip ties. Tying the cup to the spring. With me, I used a dab of super glue on the spring, so the spring stays on the cup. Some people are even starting to 3D print some cups so they can be longer so the spring can stay inside the cup. I am using the included springs with the shocks, planning to upgrade to the gold ones as they are stiffer for the carpet. I am running the King Val 35A esc and 2435 6100kv motor combo (Can be programmed with Surpass Hobby programmer) Savox 0255MG Servo, RadioLink RC4FGM, Urgenex 1100mah, 35C batteries (T plug). Some other upgrades include the aluminum servo mounts, servo saver (Hot Racing Savox), bellcrank (Hot Racing), Bulkhead (Hot Racing), Aluminum gear case (Amazon), Carbon Fiber Shock towers F+R (Amazon) ProLine Prisim Rears, Wedges Front, Losi Aluminum Motor Plate (adjustable gear mesh system, as stock is preset) Due to the amount of power it has, you can either set negative throttle expo, or roll into the throttle as the car likes to backflip and/or wheelie from a start.

Later into the race night, I had snapped the Amazon CF Front tower near where the shock mounted. In between races, I switched back to the stock plastic tower. Good thing I got 2 to spare. Quick Fix got it back on the track in 15 minutes.

I couldn't record any actual videos. Me and Lamont were Live on FB. Because of settings, not sure if I would be able to share it to here. :(

Love the report and I'm going to follow your progress on the mini b 2.0 because I bought the pro roller kit last year. I've since destroyed the car in a crash and broke or bent every single part except the wheels, trans and drivetrain. Even my motor, hobbywing, broke in half. Lol
It's a fragile vehicle with steering, ball cups, shock spring seats being most problematic for me, and the ball diff is not my friend. 😂
