You call it a toy, we call it a hobby. Apparently, you should've gotten a Tyco or Radio Shack brand if you're calling it a toy. Even the 15 & 16 year olds here on the site know the difference.

Dude I'm 14 i race and you get what u pay for my dad got a nitro quake and i got a pirate i payed 300 more but i havent broke a part and I eat his car for breakfast lunch and dinner!

Dude just chill out & don't let the negativity get to you. It is a learning process whatever you buy & enjoy it. we are here to help & don't get pissed off there are so many other car that are consider in the same degree I won't mention the names or this thread will surely blow up. So enjoy the hobby & don't let it get to you.

I have one that I bought from Ebay, and it's garbage, I had it for a year, NO HOPUPS are avialable for it, go to www.exportpro.biz and you can order parts (STOCK ONLY), keep in mind they come from Hong Kong, and you may or may not recieve them, I ordered $60 worth of parts for mine in November, and here it's now January 2005, and still nothing, Hong Kong post claims that Canada post has received the package but I have yet to see it. Parts are contantly breaking on it and the parts are HARD TO FIND other then the above site. It was a good beginner car for about a month then I sort of gave up on it because everytime I took it out to play I was breaking a part on it. The engine was a .15 and was hard to keep running, constant carb adjustment was required. I still have it, but the spur gear is stripped....third one, and it wasn't as thou it was bad adjustment it was just was a poor design. The front tires wore out FAST. I would not recommend it to anyone, save your money and get a real one that you know you can get parts for, quick. I bought my Savage 25 for $385 on ebay brand new in sealed box.

this is a hobby enjoy it. Its good that they have cheaper cars cuz it allows all ppl to join and learn the right way. Theres nothing worse than a newbie at a race with an 1/8th thats fast as hell yet can barely control it taking out other cuz he dont know how to drive the damn thing yet he invested Gs into it smashing up your good stuff the you spent a fortune on. Smarttech CEN are after this markets as well with a couple others. Kyosho even made the world worst rtr buggy that i see the guy for breaking every damn time I'm at the LHS but he enjoys running it. And thats wut its all about. GOING OUT AND ENJOYING YOURSELF.

The only thing he learned was to never buy another smartech. I dont think its a good idea for companys like "smartech" to exist. It gives the hobbiest the total wrong idea about performance and quality that exist in this line of RC.

buddy of mine wanted to get into nitro.. bought a smartech speed something buggy.. spent over 250 on it... pull start broke while we were breaking it in.. i was able to rewind it so we didnt have to order one.. got it going and went to a parking lot..( only place his "buggy" would run) he barly got it going good and melted the clutch.. game over.. luckly a hp clutch worked so a week or so later we go to his house to run.. his "speed whatever" buggy was slower that a stock savage 21 AND he toasted the front diff then tossed the driveshaft... then toasted the rear diff.. all in one day... now its setting in his closet cause he dosent want to spend the money on it and can't afford to get a "real" car..now i think he is turned off of nitro... i think ima give him 50 bucks for it cause the motor and electronics still work.. maby i can "make" something r/c.....(I'm thinking something like "nitro powered toys r us special") were not "dissing yo ride" we are just letting you know that you are an acception and that there are more "horror" stories about smartech than praise and in the future it would be wise to spend the extra money on a "name brand" ride because you will save said money by not having to buy parts.. and when you do break it the parts will be cheaper and readly available

i hear ya man. i came on this forum to try to find some people in the central jersey area to bash with. hey man, if you like your smarttech car, then thats cool. but other people like other cars also. and they will always think that what they drive is the best. i have never driven a smarttech car so i couldnt really make a biased opinion on them. but if your happy with it then thats cool.

just my on the smartech they are $HITTY PIECES OF (RAP do NOT under any circumstances unless you like to get screwed on things you buy, I have one and its JUNK the damn on-road car weighes as much as my savage, the electronics suck, my nMT weighes less than this thing, and if you break something you will prolly be done running it for the season because NO ONE carries parts for them you have to order the parts, i guess I am just out $200 cause no one will buy this damn thing I toasted the 2-speed spur gears and it will NEVER run again its just not worth putting another dime into. sorry man but they really are junk, at least if you bought a radioshack brand you wouldn't be out 200 dollars and they are battery powered so you wouldn't have to deal with a poopy engine to tune. stay away from all smartech cars they are junk go with something your LHS, or you can get parts for

my son bought 1 of these cars and yeah you all are right they are junk,BUT there are part available here in the states andalso the hpi rs4 electric driveshaft will work and wheels and tires ,not sure about the diffs thoe ,here is the site for the ppl thta want to get there smartech's running again

On this page http://www.rseetoys.com/hp1.htm I found HP1 helicopter so I emailed smartech service center people in California. They told me that Smartech manufactures for HP1. At lease they make the small helicopters for them. That's strange.

Holy thread from the dead! Did ya mean Hpi or Hp1? They might make for Hp1 (Whoever that is) but HIGHLY doubt for HPI. Uless they meant, make a product that TRIED to copy HPI, cuz that they have done/tried to bascially every good Rc out there.

Hobbies are expensive somtimes,

I have three hobbies,

Reef tanks (well over 5K invested)

Computers (Easily 1K)

RC

There is also a fine line between bashing and racing.

Dont get an expensive car thats meant for racing if your going to bash, if you race, you want the best, that comes with a price.
