Good evening all, I have been out of R/C's for the past two years and looking to run my buggy again. I have an MBX5 with a .21 Omega (Picco), which has seen better days. I've done multiple searches in this forum to no avail. I can pickup a GRP .21 promo kit for $300.00. Is it worth it or can you guys give me some other options? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

Alpha Plus F850 (Red Head). $199....runs VERY VERY well in a buggy. If you prefer more top end power, get the Z852 (green head), or if you like a TON of low end power, get the S852 (Orange Head).

I run an Orange Head in my Truggy....I can keep up with OS Speeds down the straight with NO troubles....

You can buy em here:

The Werks B5 is also a great engine choice in the $200 range. GRP makes great motors, but their factory burned down...so who knows what will happen with parts support there. I know a lot of guys are moving away from GRP for that reason...at least short term.

MotoGod, Thanks for the reply. I will look into the options you have stated with the Alpha series.

What about the Nova series enignes!

Novarossi N21R with full race porting and TKO front ceramic bearing
or
Novarossi P5XLT with race porting and TKO ceramic bearing

Does anyone here run these flavor of engines?

Nova engines are hard to beat really...they make a very nice engine.

Thanks MotoGod, that's what I have read on Nova engines. Well off to buy an NR engine!

I second that.....I'm a noob to this sport and I went from a stock Kyosho .21 (not bad to learn on...it was decently quick) to a Novarossi 21-5k and it simply takes my breath away. What a response difference. I just had to get used to the extra noise from a tuned pipe as well lol.

The other enigine is a OS 21v spec with a 2050 pipe, the other engine that I heard was a Nova 21 plus 4 with 9901ss pipe with 41021 header. I plan on purchasing a Nova but have to do some saving first.

If you have a tight budget.....go with one of the $200 range engines. There are enough out now that are getting RAVE reviews that they are worth a shot.

Alpha Plus (any color)

Those are the top 2, but the new player I guess is Precirotate (http://www.ascendancyrc.com/PR_Products.php)

I have an RB Concepts WS7II in my buggy. The engine is bad ass! I would highly recommend an RB engine any day. Mad power, and holds a tune very well.

I've got a WS7 III as a backup engine and it's a SCREAMER, but RB power doesn't come cheap ;-)

The Werks B6 is great for buggy, it's a little smoother than the B5.
