Ok. Looking to take the plunge and get a decent buggy kit. I'll need a .21 engine and I've been looking at these two.

I've been reading that the Precirotate engines are undervalued and are a decent entry engine.

I'm unfamiliar with turbo plugs, how they improve performance and easily accessible the plugs are.

any thoughts?

I saw that one too. WHat's the benefit of a 3 port over a 5 port engine?

Depends on the track you run at really. More ports tends to produce a little more power...and a different kind of power. My Alpha is a 5+2 and I love it....it's an animal for $200 ;-) The Werks B5/B6 are great little engines as well...and so are the JS Racing engines. All in the $200 range.

Less ports usually means the power is lower in the RPM band and peak RPM's are lower. Inverse for more ports.

That's if the engine was identical and the only diff was porting.

humm. All sounds good.

I'm anxious to send my order and get my buggy.

Which Buggy kit you going with? I'm running a Hot Bodies D8 at the moment and loving it. I ran an XRay 808 last season....

I'm set on getting the Hyper 9 2.0.

I've always got to get something no one else in my area seems to have. I got the Baja ss, no one to race, I get the SC8, no SC scene.

Everyone at my local track races buggies, 95% of which are Losi. In the end, i know it's the driver and not the buggy that makes a good race. But to get in the right mind set I need to pick a buggy that fits my personality. I've got the entire winter to work on modding the buggy. I've got a bunch of 7075 T6aluminium screws to help reduce weight even more on what I believe is one of the lightest buggies on the market at 7.2lbs. Everything I've been reading about the Hyper 9 2.0 is positive, any negative comments seem to come from novice and inexperienced drivers.
