Here's an article just posted today in Forbes:
Windows 10 just made the most important change in its history, but rewriting the update rules matters for nothing if Microsoft has to keep apologising for the quality of the updates themselves. And it has happened again.
Just one week after...
I haven't even had this computer a year. This thread was started in July when I got it. $1200 Dell. According to my research it's happening to a lot of Win10 systems after the latest update. This is not an isolated case.
This morning it took almost 10 minutes for it to boot. It went through the process of scanning the disk to repair errors. What a pain in the head. How do I stop this useless waste of time? I still have a notice to restart to repair errors.
Wow, do I despise Windows 10.
WOW do I despise Windows 10
It seems that their latest update is a bigger problem than their endless new operating systems. (LOVED XP)
Dreadfully slow to load the desktop on boot up and I constantly get a pop-up in the lower right telling me to reboot to repair problems. If eliminating the...
Doesn't matter. Cast slab construction. Just paint on the inside walls with a sprinkler system in every room. One apartment fire, even with fuel to keep it burning, can not get to another apartment either next to it or above it. If the back up burns I still have mine. If my apartment is...
The hard drive requires a pass word and the car has a hidden compartment that can only be opened when I'm inside with the electronic fob......
SO THERE!!! :celebrate:
The external back-up that wiped when my last computer failed was always powered up. The 2 I have now ONLY run when I physically add files or photos to them and that's just one at a time. If anything ever goes wrong with the comp, there's no damage to the external drives.
I couldn't even consider sending it out since every detail of my life was stored on it. All my info, SS#, bank accounts, credit card #s, you name it, it was on it. Sending it out would be like saying, "Here's my entire identity. Help yourself."
A few years ago, a long term regular member who, I believe also worked as a techie, was doing a clean up in his computer and wiped out his wedding pics. He sent the hard drive out but they were unable to retrieve what he lost. Haven't seen him in a while. Maybe his wife had him "eliminated"...
I'll get used to it. I've ditched a LOT of MS programs through the years and this will just be one more. In a new computer, the only time I use IE is to download Firefox.
Thanks, @WoodiE I had already found that but no explanation as to why. I just edited and printed some copies of a file through Open Office and I'm pretty sure I'm good to go without using MS Word anymore.
HOLY SCREAMING EAGLE DROPPINGS!!!!
THANKS, man. I just downloaded it and it actually opened the documents I had saved with Word. I had no idea this was a freebie. I even looked on Tucows for a free write program but didn't find anything.
THANK YOU, @olds97_lss
YOU DA MAN...
I have to write an important report and I have no way of doing it right now. Out of desperation I looked on ebay again and even considered the other office programs. They are all bootleg copies with a lot of negative feedback due to programs that won't install, won't work and seller not...
This is the error message I get:
Error 1919. Error configuring ODBC data source: MS Access Database. ODBC error 6: Component not found in the registry. Verify that the file MS Access Database exists and that you can access it.
I've uninstalled 2000, I've uninstalled the trial version of 365...
I've always used MS Word. I couldn't get 2000 to work and I only installed Word 2002 from the 2005 Works suite. I've never had this issue before. I've ONLY used Word for writing so I know all it's tips and tricks. I really don't want to start with another program like Open Office.
Maybe 2013...
