Get in a deuce & a half, wind the straight 6 as high as it will go, have it in all wheel drive and POP THAT CLUTCH!! Aside from seeing a little puff of dust behind all the tires for an inch or two, you'll notice that the brick building you're towing is still following nicely.
I still plan to scratch build a fully detailed Deuce & a half RC truck in 1/6 scale. It will have all the same numbers and markings as the one I drove.
I was licensed to drive all the vehicles from the 1/4 ton Jeep (M151A1), through the 3/4 ton, the sedan, the ton & a quarter and the Deuce & a half. I loved that thing. It was big, mean and there was nowhere it couldn't go, even while pulling the 3/4 ton trailer through the fields.
I'm guessing that's what used to be a Commo truck. (Communications, radio equipment, power generator and the like)
I think this one would be called a CAMO COMMO...comma...CAMPER
I'm getting ready to get back into it, @Certified Mike and I'll be adding pics as I go.
Thanks for the good info, @hamz9561. We had the ton & a quarter Dodges when I was in so I didn't have any info on these H1s other than I think they're incredible.
I didn't know about the spares. Apparently...
Well, this has been on hold for about 6 months. I was getting set up to start the interior when I did a fast search on eBay. These H1 models are almost impossible to find any more but one just showed up. He wanted $99.99 plus $22 shipping (or best offer)
I put in an offer of $100 shipped and...
Thanks, @Nitro4910
The first big Humm Vee was a challenge. This one's a labor of love. So far I'm really happy with it. I've had to put it on hold for a while, but I hope to get back to it in another week or two. It just sits there calling to me.
Here's the other HummVee, and as cool as I thought those springs were at the time, this one will also be going with the big ones. https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/threads/size-matters-update-pg-13-post-302.69239/
So, here's the first rear corner with both A-arms cut down, drilled and tapped for the pivot balls and the toe link cut and re-threaded.
The adjustment hex used to be centered so you can see how much had to be cut off.
Something just didn't look right on the front so I made another change. I...
I'll have some pics up later but it's been another total tear down of the front and rear suspension. The A-arms are not the standard length that I used on the first HummVee but are from the new extended PRO Slayer and make the suspension 26mm wider. Well, that doesn't allow the tires to fit...
Okay, took a little break and now I have the latest update. More of a Re-do than a New-do, but now I really like it. I had to disassemble the suspension to start the brass frame and while it was torn down I did the repaint and some tweaking.
I was in Texas when I was in the Army. I saw quite a few Armadillos. They were also armored. Well, not their armpits.
I spent most of my time in an office sitting in an arm chair. I was in the 1st Armored Division.
