Yes sir, that's the one. Not a bad price with the new engine and servo upgrades included.
Ebay has been the most reliable place to find EK4's and EK4 parts for me thus far.
The EK-4 truck is basically a EB-4 1/8 scale buggy with monster truck wheels and tires, and a .70 helicopter engine. So you're right, parts failures such as the diffs were a problem
There was also design issues. Overheating with the compact helicopter cooling head, There was also tuning issues...
I don't think I've ever seen a MSJ 2 speed. Sounds like a cool upgrade though. Those MSJ parts are like gold, very hard to find these days.
I buy up all the MSJ parts I can find when they come available on ebay. I once got into a bidding war for a complete, unopened MSJ upgrade kit and I...
Thanks for the kind words Mike. I love restoration projects of any kind. The older the better with lots of pics. I'd like to see a pictorial of your project no matter how long it takes. I've learned a lot of facts from others about my particular project car just by being on the internet.
Its Murphy's Law: RC's only lose signal at full throttle. Sorry to hear about your rig. Look on ebay for your parts first. If you can't find parts specific to EK4, look for
EB4 S2 suspension parts. They're identical. In the meantime ill try to dig up part numbers.
The front of the chassis is...
@COPO I'm currently using VP Racing Fuels 20% oil 20% nitro helicopter fuel. . I'd like to use a 30% nitro fuel but none of the five or more rc hobby shops within a 20 mile radius of me offer such a fuel. I have to special order. LOL
As I recall the piston did travel unusually high even with...
Copo I agree, I don't think either clutch assembly is available these days, Thankfully, any big block 1/8 scale buggy clutch kit will fit.
I adapted a Buku adjustable clutch to my Pro .70 and it's held up to a 1/2 gallon of fuel with no noticeable problems thus far.
twintec99 most likely its...
Welcome to RCNT, @twintec99 I'd love to see some pics of your EK4 if you have some handy. Does your rig have the composite shoes like these
or the steel shoes like illustrated in post #90 ?
You're right about the two versions. My project was a V1 with the flat helicopter cooling head and dysfunctional header.
The return nipple was drilled directly over the exhaust stinger on the V1 creating tuning issues.
The pipe was revised on the v2 with a screw plugging the initial nipple hole...
First things first, welcome to RCNT, @COPO .
That's one bad motor scooter you have there. Glad to hear you're still running it.
That MSJ cooling head you have is pretty rare these days and worth a good chunk of change if you ever decided to sell it as you probably know.
Original box and...
Sorry it took so long to respond to your post, @ciroalves. I've been wrapped up with work much more than I want to.
I encourage fellow EK4 enthusiasts like yourself to check in with your photos, comments, questions.so feel free to post your stuff here anytime.
To answer your questions:
1. I...
I'm glad I could help and inspire you Dhanvic. I'd like to see a build thread for your project in the near future. As Greywolf mentioned, forget the build cost, just have fun with it.
If you have the Pro .70 engine I think ebay is your best bet for carb o rings and I believe Pro .70 and Pro...
Thanks man. I gotta give sv250 some props. He was a big help with my project.
Wheels/Tires, shock towers, center spur gear, front and rear bumpers, body mounts, front lower shock mount and body are all unique to the EK4. Everything else is interchangeable with the EB4 S2. That includes all the...
