I am about to give up on my raze, it was a good starter vehical, but as soon as i can get some $ i am looking into a MT. What would YOU suggest for a basher mainly in grass, and some high speed road runs?

The two trucks to look into are the Revo 3.3 and HPI Savage X imo. The savage is bigger and heavier, very durable, and powerful. The revo is a bit less powerful, weighs less, and durable. The revo is more nimble, but the savage is better at hitting stuff and not stopping. Take a look at both trucks, both are great.

Go With The Revo , I Love It , Great Basher, Takes A Beating And Keeps On Going.mix It Up With The Os18tm And The Trinity And You Got Yorself A Good Truck

"High speed road runs"?

If you are looking for a basher but still good on speed, Look to the Revo 3.3 . Lots of aftermarket support for either one. I have had both and loved them.

I'm still waiting to race my friend's savage x and I'm sure he will bite the dust (no offense martin)but he is still having shifting problems i believe

i dont really want speed, i just want a reliable basher

I Took Th Revo Out The Other Night And Bashed It To poop, It Took Th Ebeating And Broke, But That S Only Because I Took It Down A Flight Of 15 Stairs And At The End I Hit The Railing Between The Wheels And The Bumper , Only Snappped The Pushrod,6$ Fix , So The Revo Is A Sweet Basher.

why do you have to capitalize each work? it makes reading a lot harder than it should be...

both the revo and the savage should be great trucks. the new savage with a 4.6 engine should be about as fast as a revo 3.3, but slightly more durable (not to say that the revo isn't durable, quite the opposite). the revo will handle better than the savage out of the box. also, take a look at the monster gt, another great monster truck, and slightly cheaper than the revo or savage.

I'll have to throw in my bid for the LST2. I love his thing, and have found it to be very sturdy.

I'm not thats the way it types on my keyboard, i wouldnt take the time to do that , no reason!!!

I would have to recommend the Revo. The 3.3 engine is pretty healthy out of the box and the suspension is one of the best on the market. Lots of after market parts are available and most chain hobby stores carry replacement parts. I still really haven't broken anything really crucial in my bashing sessions, other than some gears (pinion and reverse) and melted a couple of clutches. All this with the stock engine. Wait til I get after the Picco .26 Max in it now.....

sounds sweet hamz9561 i know how fast revos are with the .18(3.3) I can't even imagine what one would be like with a picco .26. wouldnt you have to upgrade the entire driveline? i'm just looking for somthing i can jump really high, just have fun with, and not have to worry about it constantly breaking.

The 3.3 is actually a .20ci engine. The Revo 3.3 will hit 40+ mph when tuned right and everything. I find that the Revo 3.3 feels less powerful than a Savage. Because the revo weighs less it can hit higher speeds and sill pick up speed pretty quick, but I don't get the same feeling of raw power that I get with a Savage. Having said that, with the 3.3 engine its no slow truck, but its still basically a small block engine in a monster truck.

If you want something you can jump really high, have fun with, and not have to worry about breaking it, both trucks will do just that. Take a look at both and see whether you want a lighter more nimble truck, or a big beast of a truck.

okay, looking at my local hobby shops website, here are the canidates i found

Monster gt-$400___http://h1072203.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=ASC20501

Savage X-$445___http://h1072203.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=HPI867

Aftershock-$370___http://h1072203.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=LOSB0012

Revo-$535___http://h1072203.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=TRA5309

The revo was almost $100 more than the savage, and the aftershock looked nice, and was the cheapist. also what about the monster gt? I havnt heard anything bad about it.

You can order a Revo online from another store and get it for 480 or so.

The revo is going to be the most expensive MT out there, but it has the most features and comes with the most stuff. What I mean is the revo has things like opti-drive, and it comes with a rechargeable rx pack with a good charger. The other trucks don't come with a charger, and use AAs...

The MGT is a decent truck, but its a pretty old design, the Revo or Savage is a better choice imo.

okay, i didnt realize the revo came with all that.

Really the best thing to do would be to compare the replacement parts and option parts your store carries for each truck. Don't just figure because they carry the truck that they carry a good selection or amount of parts for it. They could have the basics for one truck but an entire list for the other. Trust me I learned that the hard way. Waiting for parts to arrive in the mail sucks compared to driving 20 min to go pick the part up.

And between the Revo and Savage, I say go Savage. I love mine its great and you said run through grass and from what I've seen Revos don't do to well in grass any taller than 1.5 to 2 inches. Just not enough ground clearance compared to Savage. Stock atleast.
In my honest opinion I say Savage is the best basher for the price but Revo is the best racer hands down for the price.

Okay, i know this is the NITRO forum, but i was thinking about going electic. So i again looked at my local hobby shops sight for a stampede to convert to brushless when i found these

cheaper than converting? And where could i find a good lipo + charger setup?

If your going to go Electric and pay those prices I would get an Electric Savage. There pretty cool and at Tower Hobbies there only $335.00
Don't want to seem like a Savage fanboy but I would defiantly take a E-Savage over a Rustler or Stampede.

I'm not sure but would any know if they would accept all the same parts as the Nitro Savage suspension wise?
