I have a new install of XP Pro.
Issue:
Installation of language pack.

I receive e-mails in Simplified Chinese as well as view Chinese character based websites.

In XP it is necessary to go into the regional settings in the control panel and tell the OS to install the support for East Asian languages. This is a 250 mb install of support files to allow XP to accept one or several language packs of Asian languages.

When I check the box and click Apply, nothing installs. The box simply un-checks itself and the files are not installed.

Things I have tried:
Reboot.
Create a new Admen account
Install language pack without support files.
Install additional languages in IE.

During this time the OS disk was in the CD drive.

What is keeping the support files from loading?
Why does the check box un-check itself and tell me to go to hell?

Any Ideas on what to try?

nee-how, i would suggest try goin 2 an asian site and ul be prompted to download the language pack, clik on that and try.maybe it will work.
won-an

I finally got it to work, The OS installed by the manufacturer did not include the supporting files to load Asian languages. I re installed the OS and everything went smooth.

Jerks, What do the think, everyone in the world wants to only speak and read english?

Can you say Fom-pea?
