The platinum edition came with a bump start only 3.3 & I think it came with the close ratios gears in the transmission.

So the revo platinum chassi is longer than my 5308?

I suck at keeping all these model numbers straight so I dont remember if the 5308 is the 3.3 chassis or the 2.5. Either way the platinum chassis is the same as the 3.3 chassis just in a silver color instead of blue.

The 5309 chassis is not the same as the 2.5s. I love how spacious the conversion on my short chassis to the 5309, everything isnt so jammed together.

Yeah I just never remember what chassis is what model number.

The 5308 is the same chassis as the platinum and both 5309 revos, but the platinum is anodized silver.

The newer 5309 model shares some parts from the platinum, not sure how many though, but has the vented disc brake & 150cc tank. Not sure what other model revo's had the dual steering servo's like the Platinum & new 5309 but better off with 1 stronger faster servo for steering anyway. The shocks on the later model 5309 are the same GTR's with the TiN coated shock shafts as the platinum to.

Why did the platinum go with the close ratio transmission? Where as the 5309 has the wide ratio....

Close ratio is meant for racing - less of a drop in RPM between gear . . . Plat is designed for racing, hence it copped the close ratio gear set.
