The Big Joe 3.8 are a huge tire & seen them @ my LHS with a tire of that size I think in the long run will be hard & a strain on your tranny. I would drop down to 2.8 witch is alot better tire for the MAXX if you decide on the 3.8's upgrade your tranny. I actually have a set of pro line Trencher's 2.8 on my MAXX & love them & my Rig performs well in bashing
 
Would either of these 2 hexes fit a Losi Aftershock? I want to put some 17mm wheels and can't find any that fit a Aftershock. Do any of you guys know of any?
 
There's no need to upgrade the tranny if you're running the same engine, but your steering and other suspension parts will suffer.
I would also recommend 3.8 tires though, the joes are big and clumsy IMO.
