Anyone ID this buggy?
I can buy this buggy cheap, but it needs work. It hit a wall at high speed and broke some parts. My LHS can't identify it other than it is old, maybe 10-15 years. The body has an ofna sticker on it, and there is some resemblence to ofna tires and other parts, but no one has been sure. It has a Top brand engine, very old I know.

I'm new to the buggy end of the hobby, but I see similarity's to my GS Storm. On the other hand If it is, its several versions old.
Thats my pull it out of the chocolate factory answer. PM FlyinRazorback. Hes seen a lot of buggies in his time.

OK, thanks. What is it, a full race design like a MP7.5 or more of a basher? Are parts still available? Is it worth $100? The engine is toast, but it has good coreless Fut servos.

scottm - it was a racer for its time. now pretty outdated. i just sold a newer version of that buggy to RobH - u can ask him what he thinks of it. 100.00 seems a bit steep, but it does come with good servos, so i guess that makes up for it. Whats wrong with the engine? that is actually a pretty good engine, really popular in Europe.
BTW - u can get that same buggy now - only the new and improved version for about 180.00 as a roller. see it here: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAXV2&P=0 Last edited by Nitroaddict; 10-17-2003 at 12:41 PM. |

Wow, the new ofna is cheap. Would the Hyper 21 make a nice combo for novice racing? How would it compare to the new XTM 4wd with engine for around $350? I'm psyched about a new track in Phx that allows 1/8 buggies and freaky tmaxxes.

depends scott - do u already have the electronics? such as a TX Rcvr , servos, and batts>?
if so - then take a look at the Hotbodies Lightening pro, comes with a good engine, and a great chassis - def race ready. If you are starting fm scratch, then an RTR would be a better buy. The XTM is great from what i have been told, but u cant race with it, the engine is too big. one thing i learned long ago in this hobby. dont settle. if u cannot afford a great buggy now, save a bit until u can. u will be happier in the long run. |

Good advice! I have a JR Xs3 and a spare reciever and a good hitec servo. I'll check into the lightening pro.
Why do people bother with 1/10 xxx's and stuff when the full-kill 1/8 buggies are so cheap? |

cause they really arnt that cheap when everything is said and done.
let me give u an example: Race ready 10th scale ST package: AE RC10GT Team Kit - 179.00 OS .15CV-R - 130.00 Hitec Lynx 3D FM - 175.00 10th scale starter box - 65.00 Hitec 311 T/B Servo - 13.00 Hitec 605 S Servo - 32.00 Trinity 1100ma batt - 32.00 Total - 626.00 8th scale buggy race ready package GS Storm Pro - 470.00 OS .21RZ - 280.00 Proline T&W - 45.00 Pipe&Header - 110.00 8th scale starterbox - 100.00 shock&diff oil - 30.00 Hitec Lynx 3D FM - 175.00 Hitec 645 T/B servo - 54.00 Hitec 645 S servo - 54.00 Trinity 1100ma batt - 32.00 Total - 1350.00 As u can see - the buggy is more than twice the cost of the stadium truck. BTW - both these examples are based upon my storm and gt. |

Thanks for the info, those are awesome setups. But for lower level racing and playing, I think I could get the ofna and a hyper 21 running with my radio stuff for around $400, not counting upgrades to follow.
I just searched and couldnt find a Hot Bodies website. |

Thanks alot NA. Thanks slothy, what is the difference between the ofnas? the matrix on the ofna site doesn't really explain what each variatiion is for.

It looks a lot like the buggy I bought off NA (OFNA MBX R2). I can't really see anything different accpet this one is lacking the rock gaurd things on the sides.
I have to put a plug in here for the Lightning Pro (not RR). It's the cybermax of buggies imo. I've had mine since April and I haven't broken anything. Anway, I'll shut up now. I talk about my buggy entirely too much here. ![]() -Rob on yeah this OFNA doesn't have the same kind of battery box as my son's. It may be the older one like NA said. |
