help with buggy purchase

Going to sell the savage and am wanting a 1/8 buggy. Need help from you guys deciding between the good ones. Looking to spend around 450-500US and am wanting an rtr. Which buggy do you guys choose and why, also what is the best buggy for all around bashing an rare racing. Which is the best ad far as not needing an immediate engine upgrade, tunability., and not neeeding an extensive list of hopups to make it a strong runner and even stronger jumper.

My thoughts were between the mbx 9.5,inferno??,gs storm. any other good candidates.

Oh yeah and as far as geting a buggy that my lhs stocks parts for, well my lhs doesnt have didly shiat, so that isnt a concern
thanks all

Tim

Too bad there not in that price range....

For the money, I would consider the HB Lightning Pro & pick up a nice JR XR2 radio. You might have a few bucks left over to upgrade the steering servo.
I've seen the (basically stock) buggy in action, & it can hang with the big dogs....

I am going with Imbroken on this one - the lightening pro, or the GS Storm RTR. Both are great kits that can be had for less than 500.00 . the inferno will put u up over a grand.

Another vote for the HB Lightening Pro. This buggy can take a ton of punishment and keep asking for more. If you can afford it, sell the stock engine on eBay and get a Hyper 8 port. Or maybe hold off on the Hyper and buy a starter box.

lightning pro also.. and the stock high torque steering servo that comes with a JR radio system is perfect for it also... it can also be bought on line for check this out.. 289.99... from http://www.hobbyhaven.com/hhrccars.htm i myself am using a JR XR3i radio on it and love it.. can buy used for 100-150 and new for 170ish.. with the left over $ save up and get some big engine, dont get me wrong the 21bb that comes in it is pretty damb good vs the same engine in a savage, its got balls to keep up with the os 21 race engine.. i could keep up with it and was .8 sec behind it with cracked engine block.. also any hardened clutch bells you had/have for the savage will fit it too... stock is 13t.. but i found myself running 14-16t with no issue.. the picco i have in mine loves the 18t though... and its sick fast...

well waiting on parts is a must for any car as my lhs stocks basicaly nothing at all. Ok so now between the storm and the lightning. What is the difference between the two, you say that the lightning could use an engine upgrade, well now tell me about the storm.

Thanks
Tim

the 21bb honestly is a great engine in it.... but at one point you want more power, the 8 port trys to slip the clutch with a 16t cb, so does the 21bb, but higher speed means bigger air, the stock cb is 13t, i have a 18t in it with a picco.... now it breaks wing mounts.... but a kani wing mount is direct fit and more sturdy, will be my next on i buy, but stock mount less than 5$ kani 20$ but last 2 times i raced i lost a mount, but its also hitting sick air doing it.... pluse, honestly, i have a futaba 3003 servo foir throttle/brakes and a stock savage sf2 high torque steering servo in it, and run my jr radio on my savage and buggy, got 2nd receiver so my radio cost was freebie... so if you have stuff sitting round like i did, the cost of 290 is nothing.... in 6 months ive broke 2 5$ wing mounts.... thats it... for more detail oin the pro look at its thread... i loaded alot of pics of it when i got it with details for compairing to more expensive choices... i spent a month looking up what buggy to buy, and am far from sorry on my choice.... ive wasted a few gs buggies at the track, they did stupid things like lost wheel, which check wheel nuts else these fall offf too, and exhaust pipe fall off and other stupid stuff.... but ill be honest, either gs drivers suck, or the pro goes straighter but the gs is all over the place.... the lightnings rule my track, much like the savages do

Storm is the best rtr for that price range( i would say stock its even better than the inferno stock, ure paying for the name not the car ) U get a decent motor, a good radio, a very durable car. Also, if anything is consistently breaking on the cars, gs sends out replacement parts that are better. They consistently upgrade there buggy and with the new racing engine, this thing will fly.
