cool conversion thought

i was watching my friends bro run his t-maxx, and i had a cool idea. What if someone found a way to mount monster truck tires and or suspension on a buggy. That would be insane.

Has anyone ever done anything like that be4. Maybe ill try it someday. Till then its just a dream.

ACtually I did just that this weekend that just past.

Most buggies use 17mm hubs. Ofna and Imex make truck wheels that fit just about all the T-Maxx/Savage tires out there.

good way to ruin a buggy lol.. can you turn all the way ? or is the offset of the rim out more so it allows it to ?

If the Inferno has strong suspension...

If the steering servo provides the needed torque...

If your radio has EPA or you can adjust the linkage so full servo throw in both directions doesn't rub the tires on the body with or without offset rims...

When you put truck tires on a buggy, most people call it a "Truggy". It's been done many many times. The big tires will mess up your gearing bad. It has the same effect as putting a larger cb on.

actually - not many people know this - but alot of monster trucks are the same as 8th scale buggies. The ofna, and cen are both 8th scale buggies - i know some otheres are too, but cant think of them right now

i actually thought of trying to get the suspension to fit too. that would be really cool.

Well the truck tires are one of the reason I stripped out my plastic spur gear

Slothy---I have no problem with clearing the body even at full turn.

David---actually I lost some performance due to the added weight and bulk of the tires. BUT I was able to "fly" it with a bit more control as it actually responded to throttle and brake controls in the air with all that mass.

Tony---Just about any truck you see out there with a flat bottom chassis started life out as a buggy. Ofna is the biggest offender. But this is due more to their (keep it cheap and simple) mentality than anything else.

The truck wheels n tires in the pic belonged to one of the guys i was bashing with. But Im definitly going to get myself some. Team17 and I were doing some hill climbing a while back and the buggy tires just didnt have the BITE that the T-Maxx tires had.

you can do what i've done and buy a truggy. the are several hybrid manufacturers out there that make some very nice chassis setups. each are very similar to a buggy chassis and most use the t maxx type of suspension. you'll end up with a truck with similar handling of a buggy. check out mine in my photo gallery.

what type of ride is that Stretch?? Thats a nice truggy you got there.... How much ground clearance do you have? Is it as much as the Maxx??

it's an 1/8 scale hardcore racing mutant maxx. titanium chassis, proline suspension, mip cvds, gs center diff, t maxx f/r diffs, t maxx al bulks, pretty much a buggy setup with t maxx suspension. harcore makes them to race, the trick is to gear them properly. although it's complete i've not had the time to start it up yet. still a couple of things to double check. i'm considering installing the higher end ue f/r diffs because of the power of the sirio 27pro. the ground clearance is the same as the t maxx at the bulkhead/lower a arm connecting points. i like it because the center of gravity is much lower than the standard maxxes.
