I HAVE A STORM PRO THAT I BOUGHT LAST YEAR AND AM FINALLY GETTING AROUND TO STARTING IT UP...i HAVE AN O.S. RZV01B ENGINE W/ A RB ONE PIECE PIPE...MY MANIFOLD/PIPE DIDN'T COME W/ A MANIFOLD SPRING...MY LOCAL HOBBY STORE IS OUT OF THEM OR DOESN'T SELL THE SPRINGS INDIVIDUALLY, I WANT TO GET THIS THING RUNNING THIS WEEK, ANY IDEAS ON AN ALTERNATE METHOD OF ATTACHING THE MANIFOLD TO THE ENGINE?????

Welcome to RCNT!!!

Unfortunatly, that is really the only method without severely modifying everything. u could try to pick up a spring at your local hardware store, but it has to be very strong.

Check tower hobbies, they should have one, and u can get it shipped via air in about 2 days.

btw - try not to type in all caps, it means u are yelling, and is considered rude in a forum. thanks

Once again - welcome to the greatest RC site on earth!

Welcome to the site.

My local hobby shop sells them individually (packs of two acctually). Maybe that shop is just poorly stocked. Maybe head around to the other places around.

There is always www.towerhobbies.com but I hardly ever order from there. Paying more in shipping than I did for the part kind of erks me. I've had exactly 1 towerhobbies order since march.

here is a set of two from HPI:

and a really expensive one (one for double the price) from kyosho:

myself, i'd go with the kyosho one.

oh yeah this is a one piece pipe, right? you make it sound like you need the big, spring that wraps around the block to hold the exhaust on. You don't mean the three tiny springs that hold the one piece together do you?

yes, i need the big spring that wraps around the block...Do ya think there'd be anything at home depot that would suffice? Can i run the engine at idle w/ out the manifold spring, want to at least fire the sucker up today?
thanks

u would not be able to start the engine without the pipe spring. I also use the VO1B, and can attest to its power. even at idle, the exhaust would blow the pip right off, and it would be too hot to hold on by hand.

you don't want try and run it without the spring. the exhaust pressure will pop it off in a hurry then you experience LOUD. also, considering this is a new engine and probably needs break-in, you may damage the engine running it with the pipe off (by accident).

you could see if home depot has anything that would get the job done. you need to make sure it's very very tight. my springs are always pain in the butt to put on. if it goes on easy, it not strong enough.

if it leaks exhaust pressure, it will mess up the pressure in the tank and the whole gas system will be wacked.

i highly suggest you get the right spring.

no luck on another hobby shop i take it?
