Help racing buggy?

hey guys

i have been down my local track alot and recently totaled my buggy so instead of paying heaps to fix it i was thinking i should get a new one and a new engine aswell.

what buggy and or engine would you suggest i get?

i was thinking maybe either a hyosho inferno mp9 or a team associated rc8b with either a novarossi or a os speed tuned v-spec?

whats the best racing engine?

all suggestions welcome

i have around $2500 to spend on the buggy

cheers mat

XRay XB808 with a V-Spec Engine or a Ninja ;-) If you like to tinker with your setup to get it right for YOU....it's really hard to beat XRay. The adjustability on it is just insane. Plus all their factory drivers post their setup sheets online so you can mimic or get tips from them on what they run.

I have the Truggy version and LOVE it so far. Just getting into what adjustments do what, but the few that I have tinkered with made HUUUUGE changes to the way the Truggy handles. Night and Day with a few screws...

Losi 8-ight seems to be another popular one, and MUGEN seems to have a big following as well.

I've got the RC8 (not B) and have been very happy with it.

Either the MP9 or the RC8B would be excellent choices. I race with the guys at my LHS, one of whom is Kyosho/Team Orion-sponsored running the MP9 & Orion engine, the other is Associated/OS sponsored running the RC8B & V-Spec. (Y'know, real actual racer guys who are good at it (unlike me) and do this seriously). I'm partial to the RC8 but the MP9 is a tempting little bugger.

The MP9 will cost a little more up front and feels like it is a bit more nimble at lower speeds and more technical tracks but the RC8 feels more stable in ruts and isn't as "twitchy". A lot depends on your setup and driving style of course. If you like very precise/twitch driving the MP9 might be the way to go. Otherwise I'd say the RC8 all the way.
