Just Got a Losi 8ight RTR and have some questions...
Hey everyone,
I bought an 8ight today and was giving it a good once over in the garage while the batteries were charging. Other than a part on one of the rear shocks being broken fresh out of the box I was happy with what I saw. It was an easy fix. Anyway, I have a few question. This may sound like a dumb question now but how do you get the air filter off to clean it? It seems like I need to get myself a life time supply of small pull ties because it looks like I'll have to cut at least one off each time I need to clean the sponges. Does anyone know if both the inner and outter filter sponge need to be oiled or just one of them? If it's just one of them, which one? I'd imagine the inside sponge but please correct me if I'm wrong. Also anyone know if I can use the same air filter oil that I have for my revo 3.3 on the losi air filter? I'd imagine yest but want to be sure. That's it for now. Thanks in advance to any and all who reply with info. I really appreciate it... RJ |

For the air-filter, i usually cut the zip-tie that they have on it, and put a new one on, just tight enough to keep it on, but just loose enough to be able to pull it off. You only oil the inside filter, but clean both after each run, or if it is getting dirty while running, clean it in-field. You can use the same filter oil on all filters.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the informative replies to my questions. I found the small alan wrench screw inside of where the cotter pin goes into and the filter and pre-filter come off easily once that front piece is removed. I've had a hard time keeping it running through the break in, at least the first tank at idle. Can't take the glow starter off without it stalling. I leaned out the high speed needle and did some low speed figure eights in a parking lot for the second tank. Still way to rich on the settings. Have you guys found this as well? I'm gonna lean it out so more tomorrow, this time on both needles. It's really sluggish, has no pop when I give it some gas. Low speed needle leaning should help that out right? Thanks again for all the info. I'm having fun so far... RJ |
