Help with new Kyosho Inferno us sports 3 break in
Does anybody out there know how to break these cars in. It has a .28 engine and I am getting pretty upset at the break in process. So far I have used about 2 tanks of gas total. During that time I have been able to drive it continuously for about 15 min. at most. The rest of the time has been stalling it and waiting for it to cool down and then repeating the process. Somebody please help. I thought these things were supposed to be RTR. Why can't I just Run it.

The break in process is the most frustrating part of the hobby. Once you get past it, it gets really easy. Well, a lot easier. Well, a lot less difficult...
You may have to adjust your idle stop screw (directly under the air intake on the carb, runs parallel to the carb slide) about 1/8th of a turn clockwise. That will raise your idle just enough to keep it running. You make have to go in more than an 8th... Probably closer to about 3/8ths of a turn. Once it's broken in, it will purr like a kitten. |

It sounds as though it might be overheating if it is stalling and then will start again after a given time. Do you have a temp gun? Have you adjusted the needles any? What fuel are you using? Break in can be a little confusing and frustrating to a noob but once you get through one you kinda get the idea of how to do and learn what you may have done wrong or what you thought was wrong wasn't.

thanks, i will try it. You should know the when the car gets started and is idling for a little while the engine starts to race. Then it stalls. Also the engine is getting pretty hot around 300 degrees, but I don't know what to do about that because it is a big block and if I make it more rich won't it just stall? I am using trinity 20% fuel and the hsn is set at about 3.2 turns out from bottom and the lsn is set to almost flush with the edge of screw housing.

None of them are "rtr". Takes a lot of patience to tune one.
You'll get it. Need to get the temp down. Sounds like the low-speed is lean. How is it WOT? |

I'm agreein' with digger on this one; low end needle sounds about 1/4th of a turn too lean. Richen it up, and adjust the idle if need-be.

I think that list can go on forever.

hello,
I am just breaking in the same buggy, firstly I started with checking my adjustments on the buggy, making sure they were as factory specifications, so double check your engine manual, the thing is here is to be running fairly rich, good idea to have a temp gun or monitor on your cooling head. now I use 5% nitro for run in to be safe. I also use a starter box as pulling a .28 can be sometimes be hard. I then heat cycled the engine first up, ran it for about 1min then 3 then five after each I took the piston to bdc and let it cool down to room temp.then I ran a couple of half takes through getting up to a good idle temp watch your temp gauge you should have oil blowing spitting from you exhaust, then take it out they say about 6 tanks or so running making sure no constant full throttle just throttle blips. I always put after run oil in after shes empty and I always let the engine cool completely before running again by this time you should find it will run better and should be easier to start then up you nitro content then tune you fuel/air mixture and check your temps just as a guide.also your idle adjustment needle I use it really for my brake so your servo wont completely close your carbie just check that cause I had to adjust it from factory.hope this helps.also it would be a good idea if you have not done so already is to get a fuel filter.
