hello i am mounting os 18tm on my revo and i want to shaft start it but what will i need i know back plate and starter but not sure what one and also i am useing a trinity pipe will i need any thing to mount it? thanks!

Trinity pipe is a direct replacement. No additional parts or mods required.

The HPI or Hot Bodies roto-start for the 2.5 will fit right on the OS .18 TM. Only issue you may encounter is:

There is room within the roto-start backplate for the oneway to move. It can work it's way to the end of the shaft and bind. Once this happens your one-way locks and the backplate gets spun to oblivion.

Mr T

Ya i was thinking about the roto start system but after doing some research I'm going to go with a pull start. I would sugest the same, everyone i talk to says that the pull starts are way easyer to deal with too.

Pull starts also give you a feel for what an engine is doing. If it's flooded, if it's worn out you will know. It's also easier to set the piston at BDC with a pull starter since you can control when the crank stops moving. With E-starters, you have to fiddle with the flywheel by hand to get the piston at BDC.

Regardless what you do, if your using an e-start or pull-start, your requiring the use of a OWB. The OWB is the annoying part, but I prefer pull starts anyway.

Ya the pull start seems to be the route to go!

OWB? sorry ot sure what that is :(

OWB = One Way Bearing

I was calling out a potential issue with the roto-start and the .18tm, not suggesting you avoid the roto-start.

I agree with Olds, the pull-start does give youa feel for what the mill is doing.... but I'll take my roto-start over the pull-start anyday.

I'm with ya on that. There are times when the pull start just kills my hand. I like the Rotostart. Its my friend. I do carry the Pulllstart incase I have no way to charge my batteries. I will service the engine and slap on the pullstart right there.

yeah i like PS but it does kill your hands I've gotton serious blisters from it not fun but i would still recommend it to anyone

You may want to look in to this set up.

I have not used it....but I have been eying it. It is more expensive thatn the alternatives.....but I have heard good things about them.

The one you linked will not fit the 18TM but I believe they have one for it.

This one should fit however I can't say I want to use it. I woud rather stick to the EZ starter.

Thanks for the correction....

I too have this love hate thing wiht the EZ start......I love the portability.....but the wireing to the motor is weak andof course the blue wire troubles.

I will mostlikly stick with it as well......too much in vested in it now.

If you want the one that fits the OS 18TM in the Tigerdrive you will need this one:

Me myself have owned 2 of these units and had burned up the one way bearing inside very quickly, just may have been me. That's way I went to this system:

When I run my trucks I will take the one way bearing out about every 5 to 6 running days, clean it and re-install it, so far out of 3 years I have only had to replace 1 of the Traxxas one way bearings.
