ofna 9.5 mbx buggy????????

i just won this buggy on ebay for my brother i was just wonderin if it was an ok buggy to start out with....i got it for 117.00 shipped as a roller...no radio,servo's or motor....did i/he get ripped or is it a good deal.....i dont know anything about buggies....also what is the regulation size for the motor for racing cuz he is planning on getting into racing....and what motor is recomended in the 200.00 range....

well, you shouldve asked us this before you bought it lol... But yeah, i guess its an alright car. BUT you shouldve gotten it with everything if your brother is just starting.

regulation is .21 size. for that range of money I would consider saving or trying something less and getting used to driving it.

its not his first nitro just his first buggy.....but it will be a big step goin from stadium trucks to a buggy.....all in all i think he can handle the switch....yeah i know i should have asked first but i thought it was a good deal so i got it....whats a decnet motor to get thats in his price range....200.00

If your bro is just getting started. let him try any motor .21 size and maybe one that is bigger.

i figure you can try an OS .21 RG if you can find one. they dont have off the wall power, but they are great for club racing. it is what i use and i love it. it wont cost you an arm and a leg, they go for arround 120. or maby you could get a hyper .21 8 port from ofna for about the same price. just my 2 cents.

The only thing you'll need, aside from the usual parts, is this guy here:

You'll also need a standard header/pipe, etc for these, as well as the matching mounts (pullstart or bumpstart), as well as a starter box (if going with the non-pullstart).

If he is going from ST racing to 1/8 it should be no problem. ST racing is harder than 1/8, just for the throttle control. I would skip the RG, it just does not have the "guts" to run with others in the $200 range. Look at the tracks he will race at, big,small, both? As a "starter" motor, I would say a Werks(Collari) B3, and get a couple pipes to change for different tracks. Or a mid pipe to start out with(053). This is a NON PULL start motor, does he have a starter box that can be used for a 1/8?

whatever motor we get it will need to be pullstart....i seen the hyper .21 8 port on tower and i figured it would be a decent motor.....psunitro..where can i find those other motors u listed....

Well I have the Ofna 9.5 Violator with a hyper .21 8 port and love it. I know the 9.5 seems to get alot of flak but mine has been beat to hell and back and is still running strong. Its faster than any of my friends buggies and parts are cheap ( well up here anyway )

This is a NON pull motor though.

RG or a Hyper 8 port are decent choices for pull start motors. The 8 port can be a pain to tune sometimes.
