:ahem: Well I had a similar experience,...shorting...but it did not cause any smoke,just a hot melting plastic smell.And toasted brand new ...charged cells.

I shorted 2/3A cells and they became BOILING hot,so hot the plastic wrapper started to shrink and smell! I noticed when a soldering like iron heat and smell rose...I said Wait a minute I am not using a soldering gun! I cut the wire connecting the two sides of the "pack" with cutters.

Let the roasty cells cool and had to dispose of them,the wrapper changed color! Shorted out high current cells are dangerous when shorted. :jet:

Hey MW don't feel bad...A few weeks ago I was cutting a zip tie off my rc18..with a razor (dumb ass) and stuck it in to my 3 cell lipo batt..Talk about heat. I freaked out and tossed it out side..Its still in the front yard LOL

that sucks, i do know that castle creations has very good excellent customer service though. I have heard lots of good things about them even if it is your fault.

Pat, totally my fault. It was such a Beason move! I sent it back to them today, so hopefully in a few weeks I'll be up and running.

You shouldn't feel bad at all, RR! It was my dumbass that fried it! I just can't believe it's taking them so long. I guess they're having problems with materials!

Hey, at least they're responding to me and treating me right! Can you imagine how bad this would be if it was an Integy ESC? I shudder to think!
