Gonna Build a Jammin X1-CR! Need Setup Advice!!
Whats up, Im going to start by saying ive benn into nirto for 2 years now i started with an old school nirto rustler then got the newer model Rustler then i got the Jato and an RS4 3 evo now i just got a Tmaxx for free 2 weeks ago.
I was set on bashin the jato and trying to race the T-maxx...but mains were only 5 mins and i got very little experience racing!! Now My LHS build a nasty track and the most popular classes are Buggy/Truggy. I have neither...(ballz) Now i need to get a truggy and a buggy but i never thought to read into B's and T's because i really only had Traxxas products!! I want to step it up!!! But i really know the least about Buggies so i really need some help!! I DOnt wanna be a pain in the a$$!! But its hard to learn on your own... Now to get to it: My LHS and I had a nice talk about a few things and I decided to Go with the X1-CR! What Radio's are used for buggys? AM or FM? Is the Spectrum combo with servos a good buy? What size engine should be run for Racing? 21.-.26? Does the exhaust really make that big of a power difference? Can anyone give me some advice on what to get: (im sorry im a pain) And who makes it!?! radio/servo combo (do i want to do that of is it cheaper to get em seperate?) Engine Header & Pipe Thank You ~Joe |

Well... You cant go wrong with this radio... More options then you'll no what to do with, at a great price...
http://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37983 Then I would suggest picking up one of these Spektrum setups... http://cgi.ebay.com/Spektrum-DSM-2-4...QQcmdZViewItem You'll never need another radio again... |

you have to find out from the people in charge of the track to see what size engine they allow in the race. Some tracks only let certain size and type of engine into a certain class of race. If the engine is too big, if its a modded engine, if it has too many ports, you may only be able to run in the "Outlaw" class.
The pipe you choose will help you tune the powerband of your engine. If you have a short technical track you want alot of low end power. If you have a long fast track you might want more top end power.

You can also find the Airtronics M11 with spektrum combo on ebay for under $400... I would buy the servos seperately. Do not scimp on the radio or servos. I have Hitec servos, but I am hearing that Airtronics is a good way to go. You want alot of torque for steering, but not too much b/c you will sacrifice speed. Alot of people prefer a speedy servos for the T/B, but I prefer my torque monster to give me extra brakes.

For the engine whats your budget?
I went with a Novarossi P5 for my buggy, its a .21 5-Port, you can get a modded one if you wish. If this is your first race buggy I suggest non-modded simply cause it will still have more than enough power, and it will be easier to tune. Oh yea, I got my P5 for aorund $230. Now theres the P5X which is a bit more, prolly $250-260ish. Theres tons of options for enigne, thats just what I chose. |

Well anything up to a .32 will fit, but if you plan to race a .21 is best in most cases. A nice .21 will give you higher RPMs, not so much torque your buggy is spinning around everywhere, and will last longer than a cheaper big block .25+ engine.
I haven't heard much about the P7R. |
