Price vs. Value

I am going to buy a new radio system. I have looked at JR, Futaba, and Airtronics systems, and have been strongly leaning towards the Airtronics MX-3S FM 75mHz. I do not need servos w/ this radio, but the only pacakges I can find are with servos, which I could possibly sell on ebay, but it is probably not worth the hassle. So, while faced with this dilemma, should I go through with the MX-3S, or drop another $70-$80 for the M-11 Tx/Rx only package.

Out of the two I think you will be happier with the m11 It has much more versatilely over the mx3..

And can be outfitted with the DSM when your ready.

Yeah, after I wrote this last post I was researching some more, and I realized that the M-11 is not a sythesized radio. Is that what the DSM does?? Or what about Spektrum?? I don't really have a full understanding of these things yet....

DSM is Spektrum. Read about it here.. The M11 & DSM module is a great combo..
If you have large hands, you might want to give the Futaba 3PK a look. More room around the trigger finger.

You wont be disappointed with the Spektrum system!!! I bought it for my m8 last year and love it. No crystals to worry about, no frequency issues. I also did the conversion to intergrate the Spektrum with the radio, looks nice. By the way I now have an m11, way cool radio!!! More buttons and knobs than you know what to do with, lol. And all the buttons are programable. If you dont like where the steering trim is, asign it to a different button. The only problem I had was my transmitter voltage dropped below 9.6v and started to have my receiver go into fail-safe mode during a 30mn A-main Went from lapping people to finishing 2nd .

I have the normal mx-3 and it's ok. I don't know that I'd use it for much more than bashing. I have fairly big fingers and even with tight thin gloves, I can barely get my finger in the trigger...

Ok, well I have decided on definetly getting the spektrum system, as I have now seen it in action, and I want to race. I am now stuck between the Futaba 3pk, and the airtronics m11. Both cost about the same, and I have heard the futaba is easier to use. I have big hands, but my fingers are thin so no problem with either radio. Any thoughts??

Nope, it is a FM transceiver available in 27mHz or 75mHz. You can buy it without a receiver, for the sole purpose of adding the Spektrum unit later. Some guys have told me that the M11 is the same as the M8, only the M11 uses newer software which is more difficult to use.
