Thinking of buying a buggy, but...

Hey to all,

I'm in the market to buy a buggy but don't know whether to buy an electric or nitro. I have a Tmaxx right now. What are the run times for both-approx.? Very new to RC, so thanks for all the help.

There really isint any electric buggys out yet, only 1, but its still very new. As for a nitro buggy, probably 4-7 minutes per tank...

EXCUSE ME? Only one electric buggy? There are more than that. IF you are talking about the 1/8th scale I haven't heard of any yet... but the 1/10 electric scene has a few of them out there. Do a search. Associated and Losi have the two most popular.

As far as run times it really depends on the driver, if you are looking at electric it can depend on the type of ESC, battery, servos. You are looking at the current draw for each. Nitro also depends on the driver but it is just a mere fill up of your tank to get you going again.

Hope this helps.

Jon2

As Jon2 said, it can be argued which is better. We're talking about two diffrent scales, two diffrent internals, and two diffrent preferences.

Nitro - Fast, but costly. Nitro is roughly $20.00 for a gallon of 20%. You also have to buy ARO, AFO, and replacement air-filter elements. You can get more run time out of them, if you have fuel around. Replacement parts are fairly cheap unless you blow an engine or something of that status. Nitro buggies tend to be 1/8.

Electric - Can be as fast as nitro but it costs alot of $$$ for a good brushless setup. 1/10 scale. Cheap to get started and to maintain.

Its usually just prefernce, as I like hearing the sound & smell of nitro.

Hope this helps,
SpitFire

lmao. I can list 5 right now; xxx, b4, xxx-4, BJ4, Kyosho Lazer, and there are many more.

If you were talking about 1/8 scale, you are right. There arent any out at this point because 1/8 nitro buggies are "in" right now. The only way to have an elec. 1/8 buggy is to convert them to electric, and it has been done.
