a buggy role cage???

I realy want to have a role cage for my buggy it's a 1/8 scale duratrax axis with a .21 duratrax motor. The buggy always gets lots of air and buggys seem to crash just as much if not more then trucks. SO is there any way i can put a role cage on my buggy. all I've seen are truck role cages none for a buggy. Could i just put a truck role cage on my buggy.Has anyone tryed or done this any info on where i can get a role cage for a buggy would be great.

The only cage I have seen on an 1/8th scale is the Xterminator. THe name of the Manufacturer eludes me but IMO it would throw your whole power to weight ratio and brake bias off. 1/8th scale buggies are more geared for speed and technical driving. TO bash them is just a preference.

I think your problem is, your jumping your buggy wrong. Thats why it never lands. Learning how to jump is alot cheaper then buying a roll cage and possibly breaking more parts. Just a thought.

the main reason why you cant find a roll cage is because like jon2 said, buggies are ment for speed and handling. a couple pounds of steel would make it more top heavy, causing it do be slower and less handling.

Pat I really don't think the cages are steel...aluminum yes....steel no......I saw a few MBX-5 running cages when I first started going to the track, but I was into MTs and never asked em where they got the cages...looked production quality though.....

I'd like a cage for my buggy too....probably have to make em...shouldn't be too hard......can you weld aluminum w/ a torch..LOL.....

You could use TechnoWeld rods to fabricate a cage with some thick walled aluminium tube, maybe flatten the ends to make mounting brackets?

TechnoWeld is soldering or brazing rather than welding but apparently it works quite well and is very popular with motorcycle restorers. A propane/butane brazing torch (the kind that plumbers use) is all you need in addition to the TechnoWeld kit.

I think it is probably sold under the "Lumiweld" brand name in the Eastwood catalog.
