all diffs: enough to cover the gears while it's on end.....make sure you rotate them slowly as you pour the oil in so it will fill in the "nooks and crannies".......like an english muffin

heavier fluids will keep the drive line from spinning at different speeds or slipping...you do want it to slip when it gets to a point where one side is pushing more than the other..other wise you'd over steer more often than not.....the center diff will end up pushing from rear or pulling from the front more than it should...if you're Drag racing w/ a nitro then you'd want the heaviest fluid you can get cause it's all traction in a straight line.....

I started with 3000 in my center diff (factory spec) and I found it unspooling more than I cared for. I switched to 5k and it did better but still had the spools unloading when in an "on-power turn" so I switched to 7k and allw as fine. I'm currently running 5/7/3 in my diffs.
BTW, my manual said to fill it about 3/4 of the way up which is just about covering the top of the spider gears. |

it alows more slipping between front to rear so you aren't always trying to grip while under power....if there's nothing for the wheel to grip it revs high and bites into the first suface it comes in contact w/ throwing your car in whatever direction that wheel was facing.....

When you say "5/7/3" are you relating to front/center/rear? |
