Insert and wheel question

Hi folks! I am looking for some advice on mounting my inserts and tyres on my 777. What size vent holes do you drill in the wheel and do you need 1 or 2? Also what glue do you use to stick the ends of the foams together? (it says rubber cement in the manual but will ca do?). While on the subject does anyone trim the edges of the foam for a better fit inside the tyre or will this cause balance problems?
Thanks for your time!

CA will be fine in gluing the ends together. Drilling or reaming 1 hole should be enough. Not too big of a hole. About the size of a pin head will suffice. As far as triming the edges, yes. This will just give it a better fit becuase of the beveled edge. As far as balancing, not too many people are concerned about it since most just bash around. If you wanted to balance it, there are balances that are sold on towerhobbies. Balance is acquired through the use of weights. Much like regular balancing of our 1:1 cars.

Make sure you get good contact between the rim and rubber by lightly scuffing it with 220 gri sand paper. Also, don't get too thin of a CA to glue your tires. You want to give yourself some time so that if you don't get itright, you still have some time to fix any problems. A good medium thickness CA will be fine. Dynamite is widely used at my LHS.

I use a 1/8 inch drill bit for my holes. I wouldn't go any bigger than that and smaller would be fine as well. Aside from all the good info Diver gave you I would offer up this. Dry fit everything before you glue. This will tell you where you need to trim or adjust before you make that point of no return step.
