Big Grin Wow A Wall At 40mph+

WELL it was nice out saturday and me and a bunch of buddys were out running and breaking ALOT of stuff well the day was coming to an end and we all headed back to the shop for a little racing just for fun well every one started up the trucks and buggys and we all headed to the track well i stayed back and got my 1/8 scale ofna lx comp started and headed over towards the track( keep in mind that i didnt have the fail safe on in it was on my maxx) well i started to warm it up and i came around the corner and thats alll she wrote WOT took off for 150 to 200 ft nothing i can do but then it hit the wall flipped over and started to rev out REALLY bad and i ran over there and tried to plug the exhaust well that didnt work it blew it apart so i pulled the air cleaner off and plugged the carb and then it shut off well i would have to say it was vary pricey for a day of fun, i broke the front center drive shaft, battery box, battery holder, servo, motor mount, lower control arm, front left driveshaft, and i think i did some damage to the motor but it runs good but i dont know how it was revving at top rev for about 1 min and it was hottttttttttt well what do you think about this

I think it sucks and you need to use periods ".".

I've had similar situations, but it was due to battery packs getting wet. It was when I was first in the hobby and didn't realize that "sealed" didn't really mean "sealed". My poor little xxx-nt went screaming down an ally into a carport at WOT and did about 40 donuts smashing into every inanimate object it could find. Broke the whole front end right off the truck and busted both front arms.

Did the engine flame out or die when you plugged the carb? Most of these engines can handle a WOT run for a little while at a time. I've downloaded a few vids of guys literally killing engines that pissed them off on purpose. They run about 5 minutes with no load at WOT then burn a hole in the piston or blow the con-rod.

Even though yours was running at WOT, it still had some load on it since it was still connected to the drive train. I'm not saying it didn't shorten the life of the engine, but it should be fine for the most part. Only time will tell.

o man that sucks bro, i had that happen to me once. I was driving my old ofna nitro Z-10, and my batteries died while i was running, and my car took off at WOT down my street and there was nothing i could do. so i watched my car slam into the curb at the bottom of my street and practically explode into a million peices. i found mosdt of the parts of he car around 20 feet away!! it was rediculous. i almost cried!! lol

Sorry to hear about your crash. Just a little tip for next time you need to kill your engine in a hurry, stick the end of your shoe into the slot of the bottom of your chassis where the flywheel is, it wil stop the motor instantly. Much easier than pinching the fuel line at the carb, especially when your body is on.

Mike,
Actually that's not true, some manufactuers warranty their motors for up to two years. The real question is "what" do they and "should" they warranty. Almost all warranty against manufactuers defects, but rarely will they cover early wear. The statement made above about "turning it in for warranty" is quite shamefull to say the least. Any damage that may have resulted to your motor would most definately have been the result of your unfortunate experiance, nonetheless, you bare the responsibility of any consequences from your actions. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but unless your a little kid, that kind of attitude isn't congruent with that of a man. That attitude is "one"of the reasons we have so many meritless lawsuites in this country. Lets grow up and act like men!

well i called ofna and asked what kind of warrenty the motor has and they said it was a 1 year warrenty and that if i have problems with the motor to send it in and it will be coverd so i guess that if it goes bad then i will send it in. i took it out today and it runs great no probs it is running better then it ever has so i think i did it some good lol.
