If you can afford it, I hear great things about this engine:

i like my OS vzb v-spec. sick power and so easy to tune. the std vzb is a powerhouse to and also easy to tune but less $$$. if your looking for something a lil on the cheap, surprisingly powerful, reliable and easy to tune. try looking around for a modified OS RG. if you cant find one, i know that if you email andy brown he will mod one for you. there are a few other guys that do them as well.

I have an Os VZB, and am very pleased. I've driven 8 ports (not the race version) and it is all you need to learn. Also driven a P5, and liked it aswell, but would suggest the OS for easy tunability. I'd like to have a V-spec for my next buggy. Like that they come with carb inserts that could also help tone the power down a little untill you get used to it, and would suggest 20% for a while. At least the first gallon, since you should use it to do brake in anyway. Just my $0.02

How much are you willing to spend and what size engine are you looking for? You can save your money and get a K-Mart engine that could be a nightmare to tune or you can fork out the big bucks and buy and high end engine that should be a breeze to tune. You could also get a .21 all the way up to a .28 or beyond if you really want to do a little modifying.

I'd reccomend the RB S5. It's reliable and plenty fast.

I recomend the Rb concepts ws7 Easy to tune and youll never find more power, the os motors be wary of, some people are having problems with there motors not lasting my rbs have probably done about 20gallons and is still going strong, but they are a little more pricey than the o, but the worlds results speak for them selves RB RB RB RB
Im switching one of my cars to the nova 421b so wtach this spce ill let you know how they go

Come on 20 gallons? That sounds a little exaggerated to me. I think OS had some problems in the early VZB like I have, but must have been corrected since mine, and two others are running strong at 3-5 gallons depending on which one we are talking about. Also OS recomends a higher oil content like you might find in Trinity Monster, or as I use Odonnell, so maybe the problems with the early ones was just racers leaning out their 8% oil 30% nitro fuel, and running the shit out of it.

The RB is a very nice engine from what I know, but I've never had one so I can't comment on specifics, but I dought it will last 20 gal. Maybe 20 quarts (5 Gal.) and it definately should. I suppose the are exeptions good and bad, but if anyone made an engine that lasted 20 Gal, and had good power for a reasonable price, then noone else would be making engines. Again just my $0.02

I kid you not, my motors have just finished there second season! i practice lots and put through about 5 ltrs every time i do (rc-nutter) they have done about 20 45 min mains and a whole heap of heats 4.45ltrs to a gallon, Id shoot my self if you paid 750 for a motor and then it shit its self after run in we do a run in for about 3 ltrs and still rich for a while, with a proper runin in fuel to inpregnate the motor with oil, must use castor if not youd never get your motors to last, after all they are designed to run on castor not synth.
I see there alot of you that are stoked with getting your motors to last 2 gallons of fuel EEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK no thanks i wouldnt buy that motor again!
my cars are track cars only, i dont run them just to jump or thrash it's all about lap times, so there never held wide open for any great peiod of time, just down the straights basically,
Over here the VZB is starting to become one of the more popular motors besause it is one of the cheaper high performance motors, but the guys that are running them are finding them hard to tune due to the 3 needle setup they have on then, maybe thats why there not lasting, they seem to run very lean up high and rich down low, there is one over here how ever that has lasted and is indeed very quick, alot of guys over here run the l-Colari motors cause they are cheap and give good milage and performance, but there still no RB.......... hope that clears up your sceptisism hyperdonrc

Thanks Mike

No there almost worn out now but still competetive, i run the ws7 remember its kiwi dollars 66us cents to $1 i just removed one of the compression shims the other day, most guys are getting serious ltrs out of an rb over here, maybe our tracks arent as hard out as your or what, remember though that the biggest killer of motors is over tuning, if you keep the heat down the motor will last, 100-120 centigrade is all you need any higher and it does damage, must be castor oil not synth. i run three of these and havent had any problems with them!
