The anal answer is to clean, inspect and oil the bearing after every run.
A more practical answer is to do this when you remove the engine for whatever reason. Every 5 or so tanks would be reasonable or every 10 tanks if you lazy like me.

Knock off all the dirt and clutch powder with a toothbrush and oil the bearing. Inspect everything and replace anything that looks like its 25-50% used.

This is the answer in a nutshell.

Or, if your really lazy (like me), you can check it when it quits working... depending on the engine/clutch/vehicle combo, it could last a quart or a couple gallons. It also depends on how good your shimming is. If you shimming is tight, your bearings will toast out sooner.

Noooo, you don't want to oil your clutch bearings.. When your buggy accelerates, much of the oil will be flung all over the inside of your clutch bell, causing the shoes to slip, and the clutch to catch late..

Spray the bearings out with cleaner or motor spray prior to installing them. Just replace the bearings, to be on the safe side, when you rebuild your car. They can be bought cheaply (we sell them for $2.99/set), and it's good insurance to make sure you don't have clutch failure.

Jon, so I can get clutch bearings for my K3 from you for 3 bucks! The kyosho ones are almost 30 bucks.

And on my buggy I don't do anything to the outer clutch bearing, just run it as it came in the bag. The inner bearing I take one of the shields off of and spray all the oil out of it with the compressor. Then just put the shield back on and run it.

Bigest killer of clutchs is that the shoes dont throw out at the same time, spring tensions vary from spring to spring, puts bearing outta balance, not much but a bit, i was having to replace my bearing about every 3 race meets, i put a werks clutch on and not its about....... hell i havent even done them i dont think. that would be about 10 meetings at least. www.werksracing.com look for the adjustable 4 shoe clutch
