Where to get a good clutch kit?

I wanted to know where I can find a good clutch kit with the flywheel, shoes and springs for a hyper 8 port?

Depends on what you determine to be a good clutch kit. I run a Mugen three shoe clutch with aluminum shoes on two of my buggies (they're Mugen buggies so go figure there...) When I ran a three shoe clutch on my Savage it was an HPI clutch. You can also find the Kyosho three shoe clutch to be very nice. So I guess the definition of good is going to have to be established...as the term good is all relative.

There are also a number of sliding clutches out there that are very effective, but I do not have any personal experience with them.

Thanks! I just didn't know what clutch kits were compatable with the hyper 8 port, so would either the Mugen or OFNA 3 shoe clutch kits work?

Yes! I highly recommend sticking with a three shoe clutch vs a four shoe. I think that the 3 shoe hooks up better. Also, with a four shoe you have more shoes to go wrong! The Mugen is an excellent choice. In fact I run one on my Kyosho, with a Wasp .26

The Mugen should work just fine on that engine. If in doubt, you can always check with your LHS. If they carry them, they might be able to dry fit one to give you the warm fuzzy you might be looking for. Other than that, I'd say you should be golden.

The werks clutch is probably the best around 4 shoe but its pretty unique in how it works check it out www.werksracing.com its the wrx6501 werks adjustable power clutch
comes with flywheel shoes springs etc adjustable just by winding in a nut, i run this clutch and i havent found anything that even comes close to it

I use the same Werks 4 shoe on my savage and the thing hooks up really nice and is completely adjustable.

If you are on an extremely tight budget then you can get the HPI 3-shoe flywheel and clutch kit for the Savage for $13 from:

Clutch nut is another $2 and a vented clutch bell with bearings is $10.

I've just ordered these up for my Hyper 8-port.

If you're feeling a little more extravagant then the Mugen 3-shoe kit for the Savage comes in at $25.

Have you thought about a sliding clutch? I've read a lot of guys at savage-central running them on their savages and getting many gallons out of one set of shoes. Although, they recommended staying away from the al shoe and sticking with the composite shoes. Apparently, the al shoes wear away at the flywheel, but the one guy that posted pics had run a couple gallons through the clutch.

I'm trying to find the thread I was reading, but I'm coming up empty. I think one of they guys got 9 gallons through his, but I can't remember the brand of clutch.

Thats what the werks clutch is its a slide not pivot, havent replaced my shoes yet, comes with carbon shoes or rulon, doesnt hurt your clutch bell like running aloys and is alot better on your bell bearings since its one spring not 3 or 4 so no variance

I like the Fioroni one. I had no luck with the Werks one and people say they are adj. well..... they are just as much as any other except the RVM. You still have to take it out to adj it. If you do a search you will find my post on the problems of the Werks.

It's a GPM flywheel with feroni carbon shoes. And it was 6 gallons... Could have swore I read 9 somewhere.

Thanks guys, I just went with the Ofna 3-shoe kit for the 8 port for now but have a few other projects I will be working on, I like the Werks adjustable power clutch I but have never used a 4 shoe clutch would the Werks clutch work on a Fantom .21 or .27?

should work in any 1/8 off road buggy but check with shop on man first
