Tuned Pipes???

I'm trying to get some input on tuned pipes I'm a nubie and trying to get a bad a _ _ Buggy going??? I have a used VZB that I got on e-bay and at first I am going to run it with the stock hot bodies pipe. But before I go out and buy a 100.00+ pipe I want to know what it is for and how it's going to make a difference????? Thanks for all the input ...................James

pipes are made to work in a specific part of the powerband. Some are low end or low end to Mid range. and all the way to top end. Do a search or ask your LHS what they are made for. Good luck on your search and let us know what you find.

i have been using the os 2050 until i talked some guys on the grid. they said to try the rex 86 pipe.

and wow you will have super more top end and super bottom.

but for less wheels spin i would go with the 2050 if that is what you are looking for.

also you need to change the rear bearing to a Boca bearing

my New VZB HAD LESS THAN A 1.2 GAL ON IT. and at the RC PRO SERIES here in Oklahoma it went out the first Q that day.

once i replace the bearing with a Boca bearing. WOOO nelly

for sure change the bearing man..

u need the novarossi P5 Bearing.

i will find the part # later today.

Dibs.. you can get a Ofna 086 pipe for alot less.. and have pretty close to the same performance as a rex.. or top.. or RB pipe.. they are round 69 bux.. rather than 100 plus.. also.. the 086.. or top 86 pipe is a high end pipe.. the 053 is a mid range pipe.. and the 063 is the low end pipe..

i have gotten mixed judgements on when to use a pipe with what motor.. i was told that if you have say a WS7II.. that is a high RPM motor.. by more people.. that you should run the bottom end pipe.. the 063.. then if you got a torque motor like a p5.. you should run the 086 pipe.. Also.. the new jammin pipe.. are really nice.. the JP-1 pipe is a low to mid range pipe.. good all around.. also.. the 2050 pipe is a bad dawg i heard..

The OFNA pipes are very good value for money (you can get them for less than $50 on eBay) although you will probably need to dremel the inside of the header pipe where it is welded onto the boss that mates up with the exhaust port on the engine.

If you are racing and need a "legal" pipe then the OFNAs are no good to you as they don't have EFRA numbers.

What is the deal with the bearings man that one you posted the link on (is it made of gold???LOL) that bering? Where does that one go on the motor just over the shaft connecting to the case??? thanks for the input..............James anymore help would be appreciated...

DG you are right i for got about the ofna pipe.
for the RB motor i would run the 63 pipe. or the 86 depend on your track.

i really i would like to see a jp-1 pipe and rb motor run. maybe i can tune on one and see how it goes.

and the 2050 pipe is a very good pipe. hard as He!!. but what i have seen and heard. is that the 2050 sound soft/ the 86 pipe sound LOUD. which makes you think you are going faster.

but i did pick up a little top end with the 86 pipe on my v01b and my vzb motor.

but i know i got 8.30 min a tank with this combo.
v01b and 86 pipe. i will test the more with 86 and vzb.

yes it goes around the crank inside the crank case. just get the bearing from boca or A main

i had the Jammin pipe on my WS7II and it was nice.. i then ran a 086 on it.. and my mileage went down.. the 2050 is a nice pipe.. but i seen alot of them the pressure fitting on it has come off..

JB weld DG. use the right stuff and it will never come off.

and yes your Mileage will got down
the 86 pipe is a top end and bottom end.

the 63 is more for mileage and less bottom and top.

The WS7II has much more top-end power than most buggies can use on an off-road track. For competition use in the UK, the WS7II is typically used with an (RB) 063 pipe to reduce fuel consumption and hence reduce refuelling stops during long mains.

I've heard that the ofna pipes tend to be kinda soft. Kinda the "you get what you pay for" type deal.

I'm currently researching the same scenario james.

get the THS racing off-road tuned pipe for 1/8 buggies for $74.99 at towerhobbies. thats what iam getting, heard its good too

Iam running the ofna 086 with a ws711. and its crazy fast.the 086 is a great pipe all around the power band.And yes you do use a little more fuel.but if your not racing what the hell.and even if you are I don't think its going to make that big of a difference in the long run.
