Best buggy engine?

I'm looking to get a new engine for my buggy. I dont do any organized racing so size doesnt' matter. I'd like something with good low end because the track that I play on is more techincal then power. I'm looking up to $200 but the cheaper the better I guess I'm saying...the best bang for the buck. Any suggestions? What are you guys running?

Before I went to my WS7 11 I ran a hyper7 8port and loved it, It had lots of snap and great all around performance. I have a buddy that still runs one and he loves it. You can pick them up for about $110.00, thats good value.

I run a buggy engine in my savage. It pulls wheelies on the save with 54/16 gearing. It seems to be a pretty solid engine. Good power, but the band seems to be in a weird place. Almost not low, but not mid either... kind of like low-high, to mid-high if that makes any sense.

Anyway, it seems to be a good engine. Pretty easy to tune, but I don't know about longevity yet as I only have about 1.75 gallons through it. But the piston still sticks at TDC when the plug is out.

you can't beat an xtm 24.7 for power, ease of tuning/reliability, and value.

where did u find the Hyper 8 port for $110? the lowest i have found is $138 and that was on stormer.

On my first buggy i got a Hot Bodies Powerhouse .25, my first .21 engine and its a screamer, good power. open the sucker up and it hits probly 50MPH.

I vote for the XTM 24.7 (pro). Great power and tunability at a great price. it has tons of low end too.

I run the XTM .21 Pro and it is a rocket. I race a couple of guys that run XTMs with the 24.7 and usually smoke them and its not all drivers. I can actually pull them on the straight away. I run a 13 tooth clutch bell and a 52 tooth main (I think) Its a GS storm RTR.

There are a lot of options. If you want insane power you could buy a 400 dollar Sirio .27 for 3.1 HP, or something like a Fantom .27 for huge power at a lower price(claimed 2.8, 200$), an Ofna/Picco .26 for 2.7 HP or something. There are a lot of options but the XTM engines are very powerful, almost too much for my buggy (wait, can you have too much HP?), and they come at a great price. You can't beat 'em for value IMO.

vbgagnon if you want to spend in the $300.00 range you could go with the RB concepts WS7 11, that is a great mill with all kinds of power, top and bottom.

Well guys, I got myself a XTM 24.7 pro for $75 brand new shipped! For that price I figured that I couldn't go wrong. Does anybody know where I can get a backplate without the pullstart?
