How do you lock the center diff?
I am wondering how to lock the center diff on a buggy? I don't like the fact that when your wheel starts slipping even more power is applied to that wheel. Will some heavy diff lube cure that issue? I was also told about using silly putty to lock up the diffs. Sounds kinda of odd? Anyone? Thanks
Scott. |

no i whould start at 7k see how it feels to you.its a matter of witch buggy your running and what mill you have..and what kind of center diff you have.
so no 10k mite be to much for you. so start out at 7k and work your way up.. and i whould suggest that you do the same in your front and rear diff..1 or 2 k in the front and 5k rear..

Okay, I did reply to this yesterday, don't know what the hell happened
but either way, here it is again. There are 2 posts bassicaly on the same thing right now, one asking how to lock the center diff and the other asking how to make it rear wheel drive... what you need to do is turn the diff into a spool... which is a solid drive instead of the differential. gunit has this in his gallery, I don't know where he got it from so you may want to get ahold of him, but anyway, you install this piece in place of the gears from within the diff and the outdrives connect to a solid piece instead. |

You could always fill it with JB Weld.

The whole point is to make it not removable... silly putty I think would eventually get eaten up inside of the diffs... would make a total mess out of everything. If you filled it with something like an apoxy, you wouldn't have to worry about it... you just simply write it off as a spool insead of a diff.

Oh I hear ya... just would end up making a mess or screwing something up because theres a whole lot of RPM's and power going through those gears. Tons of torque... just think it would be better to have one as a spool and one as a diff. My opinion, that's all. Actually, I wouldn't want a spool anyway, ha, so whatever... it's his car.
