Ebay part not the same as stock ??? Take a look.

I just received two brand new front arms for a GS Storm. I noticed right away that they were a little different. All the mounting points look like they would fit, but as you can see by my arrows, they are a little different. So, are they a knock-off ? Are they made for some other buggy, but just happen to fit the Storm as well ? Is it a newer version of an old part ? Is it residual left over from the cast ? If anything, it's stronger with the added material.

I do not know your buggy but looking at it, it looks like they tried to stregthen that area of the arm with a little more plastic.

You could also call tower tech support, they might know. or call GS, they should know too. both phone numbers are on their websites.

Yes those are for the storm. I broke my left front arm about 3 weeks ago and went to my lhs and purchased a replacement. I believe the reason they look differenct is a newer revision of the part. The extra plastic may be used for renforcement. I know that my arm snapped right where that added plastic is on the front of the arm which does look like a weak spot for the arm. The only logical explination i could provide.. correct me if i am totaly reaching here.

as flash said. . seems we posted at the same time.

extra plastic = added renforcement(possible flaw in the design that GS noticed) which makes me like GS even more. Take responsibility and correct the problem!

Maybe they redesigned that part when they released the SUT?

A re-design makes sense. I was just worried that since I got them real cheap, that they might have been a knock-off. Thanks for the help guys.

That just looks like flashing from the mold. How thick is it? If it's anything under ~1/8", thats what it is, cut it off, it will not make the arm any stronger.

Don't think it's flashing. Too uniform and fairly thick (about 1/8").
I think the guys earlier hit on it. Probably a design change in response to feedback that folks were breaking the arms right at that point.
